Nesta seems to be the benchmark for the modern day defenders, so how does he compare with the legend named Blanc? I can't pick one & me being a Nesta fan, it says a lot about Blanc. I guess Nesta's tackling & clearing is better, but Blanc is better in the air & going forward & positioning wise both are among the very best.

What does XT think?

Blanc was slow and a bit clumsy even in his prime. He's basically a downgrade of Baresi although with better technical skills and distribution.

I'm not saying that he sucked or anything, he was an awesome player but Nesta was practically a perfect defender when he was fit.

Um, I respect Blanc as a defender, but nah, he was a latebloomer who hardly performed as consistently and as well as Nesta, going from club to club like a nomad. At his best, he showed his top qualities, but for him to be compared to Nesta, means you could say he is better then Nesta, and I dont think one can justify saying that.
