His club Career

With France : 9 games, all in 2007.

This forum should be quite quiet till the middle of the year. So i thought i could bring it some live with thoses players thread.

Diarra was almost an unknown player in France till Domenech call him with the french squad in the middle of last year. Though that was not to play as his real position but a as right back. He had a good game, that make me quite stable in the French NT squad and even give him some playtime then, finally as defensive midfielder.

His club carreer seems really more shaky and unstable since he moved to three different EPL club in less than one year. The guy got some potential with his feets but has to make a true and stable performance on the long run with a club team.

Do you think he can make it with the NT in the future ?
In the short term, do you believe that this move to Pompey will help him to make it to Euro 08 ? (As there is a load of pretenders for the DM position)

i didn't know him before i saw him with the french squad. he amazed me. when he will make his proofs with the french squad, i'm quite sure that big clubs will be interested to take him as a starter.

Im surprised a player who could not get near the Arsenal or Chelsea team is in your squad.

bah, you shouldn't be surprised after have seen him in the euro qualif against your players, he caught all the balls in their feet.

Never the less he still isnt at the major level yet even if a very good player of course. And dont insult my intelligence as I have seen enough of him in England ;) He is very raw still... Ive seen him try to take on like 3 players when there is no chance. His abilities are clearly impressive, but he does lack experience. This is him as a CM though... at RB he has supposedly done well, but again in the Euros he will be coming up against top class inside left sided players every game. (Robben or Babel, Mutu and maybe Cassano or Di Natale)

Of course any player can have a good individual game, but that is not my point. He is not even a proper RB... dont France have 2 RBs in front of him? (Sagnol and Sagna?)

sagnol is back from a long injury period. sagna don't have more experiency in french squad. it's open.
i see him more like a DM in view to replace makelele.

Yes Diarra is a DM... more talented than Makalele however... Sagna may lack international experience, but he is great :)

My point is that right now he is not experienced. he has talent, but also very raw.

#12 ·
wait...
why do you want him more experienced when he is already better than one of the most experienced players of the french squad? do you want him to start his international career at 30 years old?

Erm? I didnt say Diarra was better than Makalele as a DM... I said he was more talented... there is a difference.

well, i just heard his interview on téléfoot.
there is not dilemna for him, he want to have the garanty to play as much as possible. no surprising then he prefered to play for a less prestigious club.
arsenal got a winning selection as it is, no need to change something.
if lassana didn't speak about his objectif to play the euro, wenger him talk about it and understood his choice. wenger said that lassana do have a class world level.

in short, for what i heard from diarra, i do have faith in him, i would give him his chance in french squad, i like the guy.

3 great performances so far for us, topped off by a sublime one yesterday.

An absolute steal at 5.5m
