The squad for the upcoming game against Norway was announced, no new names really but both Tudor and Pranjic are put in the squad, interesting. Bilic said he would like Tudor to be in a sweeper role.

Goalkeepers: Stipe Pletikosa (Shakhtar) Vedran Runje (Besiktas) Mario Galinovic (Panathiakos)

Defenders: Vedran Corluka (Dinamo Zagreb) Dario Simic (AC Milan) Robert Kovac (Juventus) Josip Simunic (Hertha Berlin) Goran Sablic (Dynamo Kiev) Dario Knezevic (Livorno) Hrvoje Vejic (Tosmk) Anthony Seric (Panathiakos) Igor Tudor (Juventus)

Midfielders: Niko Kovac (Red Bull Salzburg) Luka Modric (Dinamo Zagreb) Milan Rapaic (Standard Liege) Niko Kranjcar (Portsmouth FC) Darijo Srna (Shakhtar) Jerko Leko (Monaco) Marko Babic (Bayer Leverkusen) Danijel Pranjic (Heerenveen)

Forwards: Eduardo (Dinamo Zagreb) Mladen Petric (FC Basel) Bosko Balaban (Club Brugge) Ivica Olic (CSKA moscow) Igor Budan (Parma) Ivan Klasnic (Werder Bremen)

Okupljanje je 4. veljače u Zagrebu, u ponedjeljak se putuje u Rijeku, treninzi su na stadionu Pomorca u Kostreni.

The guys in red should get a run in this one...

good to see a couple of new faces, I agree with blast. I don't think he was getting at formation, but rather at the players we have yet to see much of MM.

Ohh, too defensive, I was just wanting all the players I havent seen much of to get a run...

PLease dont call me Mr Idiotto :D I change my mind, Put Bosko Balaban in and take Anthony Seric out.

@maiden - Good point but I would like to see what a young team without real leadership ion the middle can actually do against a sub par side like norway.

@Prof B Bilic seemed to be full of praise for him. I havent watched him personally thogh.

Seric, Knezevic, Klasnic, Tudor, Sablic are not 100% certain, they are still either injured or not fully fit because of injuries
all those guys most likely wont play..id like too see pranjic get a start along with budan upfront..i would also like to see babic at left back and simunic at stopper..friedlie games are the games we should be trying some differnt things..

I think that we should play with a full team, with the exception of giving Galinovic, Pranjic and Budan some time on the field. The right time for trying new things would be during the friendly after the Macedonia qualifier. We seem to be on a winning formula at the moment, it would be a bad idea to chop and change too much before our important match against Macedonia.

Hmm not sure, am in two minds about this. I am leaning to the view that we should be more adventurous with this Norway friendly, the Macedonia qualifier is more than 6 weeks after this friendly. Perhaps have the core of the regular team start with a few modifications and then make many changes for the 2nd half ?

maybe dependant on the flow of the game, if we're comfortable in possession we can rotate a few players and see how they fit in.

IMO this game should be used to see what we can do with Budan J.Leko and Pranjic.

I dont think putting out an entirely different 11 is really achieving anything.

We need to use friendlies to see what we can do with our normal squad, we will never have a totally different 11 out on the pitch, so i dont think its smart to do that.

We need to see where some ideas we have had fit into this team.

so what id like to see is this

-----------------Budan

----------DaSilva

Pranjic---Modric----Leko-----Kranjcar

Babic---R.Kovac---Simunic/Tudor---Srna

--------------Galinovic

To me thats the right mix of what we could experiment with.

Id put on subs at 55 60 min mark.

Halff time.
Galinovic OUT Runje GK
Babic OUT Pranjic LB
Kranjcar LM Rapajic RM
DaSilva OUT Budan CF
Petric OUT Balaban CF
R Kovac OUT Vejic CB

At 60 minutes
Leko OUT Corluka DM
Kranjcar OUT Olic LM
Simunic OUT Sablic CB

This should give us an idea of their ability and give Bilic and co. an idea of how much to count on each player!

Its been awhile... I agree with most of you here that we should play the first team with a few exceptions> giving the likes of Pranjic, Budan, Vejic, Babic some time. J.Leko will most likely start because Bilic is unsure of N.Kovacs status by the time we play Macedonia.

We still need a couple of players to develop at the mid positon. Niko Kovac I love but after Euros he is most likely done. Modric has shown that he can play that role well showing the charecteristics of being the future engine of the team. J.Leko has been stepping it up at Monaco and is now more and more a regular.....hopefully young prospects like Pokrivac and Pelaic develop within the next 1-2 years.
The 4-4-2 is the base of what our future play will develop too. Basing the players around this formation our game has shown alot more in the offesive region of play making. The 4-4-2 looks somewhat like a 4-2-4(figure8) at times. By lookin at Bilics selections you can see that the roster of players are slowly molding towards this.... quite potent if you ask me!

--------------Budan---------------
---Petric----------------Eduaro--
-------------Kranjcar--------------
---------Modric---N.Kovac---------
--Babic----------------------Srna-
---------Simunic--R.Kovac---------
-------------Pletikosa--------------

--------------Balaban--------------
---Pranjic----------------Olic------
--------------Rapaic---------------
---------Modric----J.Leko----------
--Seric*--------------------Corluka
----------Vejic----Simic------------
----------Runje/Galinovic-----------

*Injured-Knezevic,Seric,Tudor,Sablic,Klasnic
Adding in these guys would give us 2 strong squads!

The key to makin this work is the guys in bold. They must be able to create, score, and hustle. Most of the guys here have those attributes..Olic:drunk: at times but I hope you see what I mean!

Ivan Klasnic is out because of kidney transplant:

Croatia's Klasnic to have kidney transplant
AFP
January 23, 2007

BERLIN (AFP) - Croatian international striker Ivan Klasnic will be out for two months because he needs a kidney transplant, his lawyer Klaus-Peter Horndasch has said.

"The doctors treating him believe he will be available again in six to eight weeks," said Horndasch Tuesday.

The Werder Bremen player has complained of kidney problems since suffering from appendicitis in November 2005.
I really hope everything goes well, all the luck to him

Hope there won't be severe problems.
Definitely, he's a great player and would be a huge loss if he couldn't continue playing
