Now don't misunderstand. I know that he is a tremendous defender. And he would definately improve any defence. Though he usually plays in the middle, he has played most of last season at RB in Lazio. We already have Cafu and apparently Bonera for that position. Our back-ups for that position are Simic, Billy and even RJ.

I am convinced that Maldini is not going back to his former position at LB. So how does Stam gets into the squad? I am sure, he won't accept a back-up role for any position.

IMO, a buy (if made) would be silly and certainly not our priority. Only a luxury.
