Okay Hope54 we've been waiting far to long for you to open the thread so I decided to open it myself :)
We must get off to a good start with a win  Norway are not the team they used to be. I think we can take them.

Me hope54, Kojak, GabyG and Máté will be going to the game.
I've not told Máté he's going yet but he'll be there :D GabyG said he is going but I can't get hold of him to make arrangements to meet up so get me on msn!!! I told Kojak to go in his Nigerian jersey... he said yes
Anyone is welcome if you want to join us!

now I know that setanta will show the turkish and greek qualifiers here in america, but does anyone know if the norway game will be able to be seen somehow here in the states?
The choices are Setanta, Gol TV, or Fox Soccer Channel. They showed Bulgaria-Magyarorszag here. Those are the only choices.

Who is televising it in Hungary? I got to watch today's game with a live feed from Duna TV.

Kis Fium...vidyaz. It was only a friendly.

Although I love to beat Ausztraks, the Norway game counts for something. Our recent history has not been too kind in the area of results when it counts.

We are just going to have to wait to see what happens. I like what I see so far and agree there is hope. (Yet, I felt that way last time we went through this too  )

We beat the Germans and the Scots before WC qualifying, yet we did not qualify.

Yeah...it was only a friendly.

it was just a friendly, true, but we still won and that has to count for something! at least, we have confidence now going into the qualifying round. New coach, new team, new chance to do well! we went to Austria and got the win, you can't ask for more than that. also, I believe this group is easier compared to our WC qualifying group (Sweden, Croatia, and Bulgaria, all 3 teams which were in the Euro 2004, no other group had that). So I mean, yeah it was just a friendly, but you can view it as a step in the right direction as well. If we lost this game, we would be in a total reck before the Norway game, think of it that way! so many questions and doubts would have arised... so I think we got what we wanted to get from this game which is all that counts, and just take it one match at a time.. :) that's all we can do. But I bet you the team and the fans are feeling good going back to Hungary victors, and we are awaiting our match with Norway :D another advantage is we are starting the qualifying at home, which is always nice :) it just keeps getting better huh! But of course, anything is possible, we could lose every single match.. but at a time like this we must be optimistic. plus sometimes I just get a lil excited, thats all :D

Norway 1-1 Brazil
Norway maintained their unbeaten record against the South Americans, who only avoided defeat thanks to a 62nd-minute equaliser from PFC CSKA Moskva's Daniel Carvalho. The hosts had gone eleven nine minutes earlier when Morten Gamst Pedersen's free-kick crept in at the far post. An even contest in Oslo then threatened to go the way of Dunga's new-looked Brazil, with Norway keeper Thomas Myhre making important late saves.

I would have been more optimistic if we hadnt concieded that late goal.
It shows our Defence needs work, I hope they can improve by the Norway game.
1 goal on the road means we need work? first of all it happened when they put Low in for Halmosi. read my post b4 the game started-isa id this was my defense that I wanted- Halmosi, Juhasz, eger and Feher. The best possible lineup for Hungary. I said had they given up multiple goals I would be shocked. They didn't give up any. They will just get better as they have not played consistently on the NT with the xception of uhasz who has not played in awhile
PS-no Vanczak please

I agree with what you say.

Logic would say that those results will help them going into qualifying, yet we have shown in the past that friendlies prove nothing. I am more hopeful too because there seems to be a different energy in the team than before. Even in their loss to England, they never really looked outclassed, as they would have been before.

BTW, you come across any Banfis in Toronto? Attila or Miklos? They used to live across the street from my Nagymama in BP, but now live in Toronto. (they are old guys like me, but I think Miklos' daughters are around your age)

Regardless wether they have the best defense, there is always room for improvement. If these important players (Juhasz, Feher, Eger, Halmosi) are not available for crucial games in the qualifiers they need replacement hence the reason why defence always needs improvment. It's important to have all players at similar skill levels.
