How come Europeans don’t rate the Brazilian league?

This league produces legends/new talents/future legends all the time! This league is loaded with talent!

Dagoods loves watching the Brazilian league over any other league just because you never know who is going to win the league each year :proud:. This league is a much more competitive and difficult league to win than any other major league in the world :eek::eek:, IMHO. It is extremely difficult for teams to win championships in back to back years unlike in other leagues :happy::happy:. Also, most leagues usually have 4 to 5 big teams where as Brazil have about 12 big teams and that’s being modest :happy::happy:.

Dagoods enjoyed watching Sao Paulo vs Santos yesterday (great match) that was probably the game of the week! It was better than watching Inter, Milan, Chelsea, and Barcelona :yuck: for sure :D:D:D no doubt about it...

For some reason Europeans only respect the Brazilian NT team but not the Brazilian league :howler::howler::howler:? What’s up with that :confused::confused:?

Because they don't have any way of watching it so they don't know anything about it. At least that's my reason.
Also, some might assume all the defenses are full of clowns like they see on youtube highlights

This is quite often the case (although you can watch anything online).

With high speed internet and a multitude of sites to watch live football we have too much choice, and generally speaking for Europeans the EPL, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga are always going to be favoured. Brazilian football isn't well marketed in Europe, so your average EPL fan is more likely to tune into a German or French club match if he/she wants to watch something outside of the "big three" leagues.

If a company like Eurosport bought the rights to Brazilian club football many more Europeans would watch it but after you've watched your own team play at the weekend, maybe taken in a game from another top club from another European league, the desire to then find a stream for a Brazilian match isn't quite so strong.

Great defensive blunders by Europeans in Brazilian land.

Might be that the air in Brazil is not suited for it:thumbsup::righton:

Gary Neville definitly felt teh pressure of playing in the Maracana.

Karembeu said before teh game that he had never heard of Edilson and Edilson told him that he was going to put it under his legs in the game... and he did it!!:)

Aawww....ZdF and Dagoods getting their panties in a twist cause nobody watches Brazilian league. Funny thing is you treat it with rude answers while others are trying to answer it with logic.

Me ? Watch a few games a season. Like Rodriguez said, no real connection and for most of us bad gametimes. And when i have watched it, it really doesnt interest me that much.

cause its a feeder league, the top team is equivlent to mid table team in europe, the players are all Brazilian no foreign influence.

Clubs have no honor
the league is poor
Adriano and Robinho play their.

why would i watch the brazil league, only european scouts do.

Take all the Brazilian talent away from the TOP 3 European leagues and you're left with 0 entertainment

Inter Milan (Maicon, J. Caesar, Luicio)
Milan (Dida, T. Silva, Ronaldinho, Mancini, Pato)
Juventus (Melo, Diego, Amauri)
Real Madrid (Marcelo, Kaka')
Barcelona (D. Alves, Maxwell)
Manchester United (Anderson, Fabio, Rafael)
Chelsea (Belletti, Alex)
Arsenal (Denilson)
Liverpool (Cavalieri, Lucas, Aurelio)

Honorable mention: Luis Fabiano, Baptista, Juninho, Ze Roberto and many more!

Without these stars those teams would suffer, for sure!

From Chelseas point of view, we could easily cope without Belleti and Alex, especially Belleti. Alex is a very good squad player, but nothing to suggest that if he leaves he would hurt our chances of challenging for the number one spot in the EPL, for example.

In our case, Anderson has been a big disappointment, and cant say we would suffer without Fabio and Rafael. They will be stars nonetheless.

Because most of the best Brazilians are in Europe when they are at their peak so who cares to watch the Brazilian league?

Even though players move on and often peak in European club football, it's Brazilian football that makes them what they are.

For example, watching Kaka pre-Milan was a joy to watch. Wasn't a case of a "rough around the edges" player with untapped talent, but someone who already had genuine ability.

Kaka is not an exception to the rule but the rule itself. Juninho didn't need to be on French soil to learn how to hit a mean freekick and Robinho was much better to watch at Santos than in any game he's played in Europe.

The current crop of Brazilian stars were doing great things before coming to Europe and the next crop are doing this right now. You have to think that there must be something worth watching if all these European club scouts are willing to write cheques for these guys.

Have never seen much Brazilian Footie . . Its not easily available to armchair fans . .

That aside the common belief (just saying this, don't attack the messenger) is that the best players will look for the most money (certainly hasnt stopped the likes of Adriano and Robhino ripping off clubs and pissin off back to Brazil when they cant handle adulthood!) and therefore move to europe.

If the quality of footie was good and it was entertaining, I would be well up for watching it . .

Either the football genuinely isnt that good or channels just don't think that there's a market for it . .

Dagoods, in what way would Barca suffer without Maxwell ? You have a point in D.Alves as he simply is the best in his position. A total freak. Without Maxwell we just would have to bring in another offensive-minded LB who´d in the end be Abidal´s sub.

Other then Milan and Inter, European topclubs would do pretty well without the brazilians. They form a part of their team but thats about it, other then the Milan clubs, and maybe Alves in Barca the players you listed are mostly subs or squadplayers.

And in Juventus´ one of the reasons they are suffering is Diego,Melo&Amauri.

Try harder maybe ?

what are you talking about? Maxwell is an Ajax Legend (the closest thing to Ruud Krol) no doubt about it!

Pep's hands are tied, he cannot give Maxwell any minutes because he a defensive LB! D. Alves is an attacking full-back and Barca's midfield is not that defensive-minded to begin with.

Maxwell is not rubbish, I would like to have him in Madrid for sure!

The players I listed are future stars, waiting their turn to shine ;)

This year some good teams in Brazil that would give a hard time in any two legged game with any european team:

- Corinthians (we got two teams..... something rare in Brazilian football because of money issues... but as it is our centerary year, we made two teams and a rock solid squad full of options)

- Flamengo (The Empire of Love... well structured team with good players scattered around.... Leo Moura, Kleberson, Angelim, Alvaro, Juan, Petkovic, Vinicius Pacheco (good kid coming up the ranks... should be in europe a year or two).

- Sao Paulo (has a good base, not much for top talents, but a team that has played together for many years)

- Internacional (also good group that has played together... Alecsandro, D'Alessandro, Taison , Sandro, Guinazo among others)

- Cruzeiro (they have an attackin jewel in Kleber the gladiator.... in Rafa stays in Liverpool I think he will sign him up in July.)

- Santos (Formidable attack.... Giovanni, Neymar, Ganso & Robinho). Only Man Utd, Chelsea, Barcelona & Real Madrid have a better attack than this in Europe)

Palmeiras downgraded from last year's form, so they are not in the elite bracket of team quality at the moment.

But these 5 teams listed on top, will give any european team a hard run for their money in a two legged knock out game.

Btw

The only Brazilian to really shine in the EPL was Juninho. The rest were ok to moerate.

Also, this current group of players that Brazil has now, is not as strong as the previous one. But hopefully, and it will happen, the next crop will be very good as the world cup 2014 will be in Brazil and we will make top talents to play in that world cup! :)

Brasil league has very nice players and some very interesting games, but to be honest it isn't as competitive at the very top as the top European leagues. It's normal because European clubs take all of their best players, but for example, Robinho who was shipped away out of shape and out of form from Man City comes into a local "derby" match yesterday between Santos and Sao Paolo and he is making the difference in the match from the moment he steps on the field. The competition is too "small" for him. There just isn't enough quality teams in the league, although it is a competition I like to watch.

This.

It is still very slow in build up play generally and that's what puts off a lot of europeans watching as well.

The Argentinian league in comparison is quick and more direct. Much more akin to some of the european leagues.

The Copa Libertadoes though is great just for it's diversity.

European youth development at top clubs (with some exceptions) became unnecesary when the foreigner rules went out the window. It's easier to buy a top Brazilian youth than make one yourself.

I Think the Brazilian league is discounted by many because they don't see it ever. Also, some idiots think that because the top brazilians play in Europe it means that the players still jn Brazil must suck. Wrong! Thirdly, many are simply jealous haters and looking for a reason to slag Brazil.

I love watching a smörgåsbord of South American football. The football is different, and getting better.

However the main reason is the passion that I see in the fans. Packed stadiums full of banners and flags. Europe is neutered their (fans)game so much, its really hard to see that passion any more, unless you go to Napoli or Bari.

Granted I see more games from Argentina, but as a football fan, I like all football. I'm sure if Europeans don't tune in, its more to do with time difference.

However let me point out, that in amongst Europe, fans don't follow much teams from outside their own countries.

Serie A wasn't even broadcast in England for a bit there, a number years back if I'm not mistaken.

That is what is great with the internet and having a zillion channels, more exposure to different leagues.
