Grant's Dropping Awatt

The man of the match. The one who held Israel for the 2-2 win, is not going to be in Grant's cards in the coming run against Switzerland and forseably the Faroe Island duo matches. Grant stated that his off again/on again antics were not showing that he is confident and he is hinting that Nir Davidovitch (ASHKENAZI!!!!! :proud: Take that Yarok Ole...j/k! j/k) will take his place, whom he had a great run in practice and technically he is more confident than him..

Whats ur take on this issue?

this is crazy........but if mr. lucky senses it then i guess it must be done. I really appreciate Awat! i dont' care what anyone says, he did a magnificent job and he saved us from a defeat in dublin

You know..im not much of a fan of racing. I do support them. Everytime i see on Arutz Israel (Channel 656) plays of Racing Santander and Awatt's performance..i simply grab my nuts and hope that every shot that comes towards him does not go in.

He is a lucky GK. But he is on a thin line. You think he can shutout a team like Barca or you think he can let in like 8 goals! Its a hybrid player!

I am not sure, Awat really made some crucial mistakes and I consider Nir to be a more stable keeper. But would Nir make such amazing saves in one on one's like Awat did?

I dunno, both of them are good, but as much as Awat screws up he also makes unbelivable saves.

does this mean awat is going to be second in line after davidovitch or he is off the whole team?

He might be fighting for 2nd or 3rd....

Im not sure about the potential of Awatt.
I do wish Rachman from Hapoel TA would have been good...
Especially his young predeccesor!

awat's main problem is that he can't deal with high balls !
against germany ( a typical team that flanks a lot with high balls ) he concedes seven goals in one halftime !! he is also very nervous in crunch time (against austria in the last minute ) .
i think davidovich is the better goalkeeper. against france he was also amazing.

Remember, he was always 2nd hand for us. Davidovitch was promising but he had a streak of injuries that hurt him very much. He could have gotten to play in top European teams if that wasn't the case.

But you also must remember it was Davidovitch who let in 5 goals against Denmark which made our chances for Euro 2000 turn to dim...

Coming to think about it I think I prefer Davidovich against Switzerland. With Ben Haim and Badir back we should look a bit better defensively and without huge holes allowing so many one on one's, the only thing Awat is really better at then Nir.

What are Tommorow's game and do we have any trust in the other matches in our group? Can it help us in anyway other than say...9 points that we can earn in sept-oct?

Awat or Davidovic? At least a good head ache, there were times where we complained for at least one....Well both of them proved to be very important to us in these qualifying rounds...Davidovic saved us against France ( the first game) and agaonst Cyprus away where he saved a penalty kick from Constantinou when the game was tied 1-1 and later Nimni gave us the victory. awat on the other hand saved us against france second game and not to say against ireland.....I'm really not sure

Each one has its qualities...Awat IMO has more reflexing, he is faster and like mentioned before vey good in one-on-one situations, but Davidovic is more stable and seems to be more secure and better in high balls.....But Grant is the one to choose and it seems like he knows what he is doing....

I would keep Awat.

We need a durable...dependable goalie..

who do we have/had...

I don't know why they put Ohad Cohen in the list for the last replacement IMO.

But looking at who we had....

Dudu Awatt - Antics
Davidovitch - Injured
Elimelech - Too much out of it
Shtruber - Not good
Cohen - " "
Korenfine - Too much anti-beitar propoganda to let him in by the IFA
Nir Rachman - Already career over
Almadon - Too much American to get in the net..
Y. Shekel - Dunno

WE NEED PERMANENT GOAL KEEPERS!

how old is nir? does he have a shot at playing in a European club?

He is 28 or 29...
Shouldn't u know this info about your beloved player!?!? :scream:

He had a few shots in Europe. I belive AEK wanted to trial him and a few other teams. The problem was his injuries which hurt him. Then ofcourse, he's 5-0 game with Denmark which added insult...

People compare him vividly to Avi Ran Z"L

Nir will be 29 in December.

Nice to know you kept a record of that :D

But honeslty...his injury was 4 years ago! 4 years ago, june infact!!!!

He was 25..He was in his prime and he could have evolved into a better player and someone who can actually be in europe and actually lead us into glory in Euro 2004 Q and beyond!

No I just checked ONE :D

Nir has had bad luck with injuries, but he will still go down as one of our best players. Remember his match against Valencia?

And meanwhile Awat's hopes of moving to Villarreal are gone as the Spanish club signed another goalkeeper, Mariano Barbosa. Awat will have to spend at least another season at Santander.

#22 ·
Well just because a goalkeeper suffered 5 goals in a match it doesn't mean he is bad, it happens to the best keepers.....Oh and kappa BTW that match against Denmark Awat was the keeper and now he plays in Spain so another example that we shouldn't evaluate a player for just one match....

Ón Awat's issue on transfer, he will only transfer to another club if he will be in the starting line up, he wouldn't move to a club to be just a back up keeper that normally plays less than 10 matches in two seasons...

There was 2 matches. The 1st one, the 5-0 was Davidovitch in net. The second one was Shavit Elimelech...

Can someone double check this?

I just heard he is wanted by Valencia on channel 5. But this sounds like another rumour although they are apparently letting their former first keeper Canizares go. Santander will get Salva in exchange if it happens.
