no im not from germany

in fact i have no connections to germany whatsoever

and the answer is i cant follow them in london!!!!!

especially now they are in the third division

i always like supporting the little side.

(of course my main two are for other reasons - arsenal - local club, barca - 'mes que un club')

stpauli just caught my eye a few years back and ive tried to follow their progress since

and especially as i can barely understand any german

its a bit of a joke trying to keep up

hence this thread

if anyone has any news on them

:) :jester:

I am from Germany and I can follow them. Often in the stadium (when I have the money to travel to Hamburg) and if not on the radio or in the web. For me its the only german club (Ive always prefered foreign leagues and teams and I still do. ) which really interests me. The "little other" club; I like them because theres a special atmosphere around that club. I went to one of their homegames with another second league club around 10 years ago and liked it very much.
In Germany I ve always more followed second league than first. Now they play third, but I do not care so much. They´ll come back to second again sooner or later.
You say you cant follow them....Would you like to have results or reports of their games on this thread or shall I give you informations when there any news?

yes that would be great!!!!!

yesterday St.Pauli won away against amateurs of Schalke 04 with 2-1. St. Pauli played with:
Hollerieth – Morena, Matthies, Gunesch – Mayer (46. Agu), Sager, Mölzl (73. Bobrowski), Bounoua, Gruszka – Musci (90. Albrecht), Hanke
The score :
0:1 Bounoua (33.)
0:2 Bounoua (66., FE)
1:2 Holtheuer (72.)

With that win they climbed to 4th place with 18 points. Wuppertal is 1st with 23 points, Braunschweig 2nd with 20 points and Dortmund 3rd with also 20 points. The best 2 will go up to 2. League.

whats the financial situation like now?
they had huge problems to get the license for 3rd league!!! 1.9 Mio Euros were needed to get it. So the club started many actions to save the club; including matches vs. Bayern and extra-created shirts. They sold over 100.000 of these shirts alone, they even were ordered from Brazil or USA.
Because of that all the financial situation of the club is not the worst at the moment.

on the 13th Matchday St.Pauli won at home vs. Cologne (A) in front of 17.000 spectators 4-0- all four goals scored by Morad Bounoua!
The boys are at 7th place now with 22 points. The top 3 are:
1. Wuppertal (27points) - 2. Werder Bremen (A) (25) - 3. Essen (23)

though i like hamburg sv too i wonder who is the club of the people in hamburg...probably hamburg will have more visitors than s.pauli but i wondered who the real hamburger support or is it both in the city?

what are their average attendances now in the stadium?

cheers

;)
Hamburg is divided into 50/50 HSV and St. Pauli supporters. Which is a very big number for St. Pauli considering that they never were really successfull.
HSV averages about 50000 visitors a game, St. Pauli has an average attendance of 18000 this season in Div 3 (!!). Their capacity is only 20000 ( HSV 55000 ).

On sunday ( 14.3. ), the Hamburg derby between HSV (amateur team..) and St. Pauli will take place in the AOL Arena. With a win HSV can manage to climb further away from the relegation zone of the Regionalliga Nord ( div. 3. ) and to move ahead of St. Pauli in the table.
St. Pauli looks anything but stable after they sold their first team DFs Cory Gibbs and Nascimento in the winter break due financial reasons.
HSV will get some reinforcements from the Bundesliga team, argentine playmaker Cardoso will definitely start for 'die Rothosen' on sunday.
I'm looking forward to a win against the scum :D !

Can't really say I'm a fan but they're linked with almost all the clubs I like, of course especially with Celtic, but saw also thier pirate flags at pics from Athletic's Herri Norte and a while ago I discovered St. Pauli fans have been at Utrecht matches as well, so I can't dislike them.
