This is a thread about the club which challenged the dominating Spartak side of the early 90s and became champions, the club which packed 41000 into its stadium back then and was one of the best supported sides in Russian history.

Alania is gone, but long live the pride of Kavkas!!!!

More to follow...

really pity, I still remember the season when Alania took the champ. And I remember how they won 1-2 vs Spartak Moscow in Moscow. And good free kicks by Kasimov. Play of Nazim Suleymanov, Janovski, Pagaev, Hapov and others.
That was a good team.
But the time changed and Alania couldn't reformed. Hope they will understand their mistakes and will be back soon

Brave late fightback from 4-1 to 4-3 today; at least they went down scrapping.
Come back soon Alania

Nothing against Alania but I really like how everyone becomes so kind to the teams which are relegated...
We also become kind towards the teams, who just missed the CL spot as well. :D

I saw Alania at Ibrox when they were Russian champs. They gave us a scare by leading 1-0 at half-time.
Yeah,i remember that game,Gazzaev was the head coach of Alania,Yanovsky scored the first goal.
In the second leg Rangers destroyed Alania,7-1.....

Terrible news for Vladikavkaz and the Russian football... :dazed:

Alania will not participate in the second division this year....the club is with a lot of financial problems, was not allowed to enter in the competition,it might even close doors.....

So after Rotor Volgograd, now is time for Alania,Shit!!!!

And than we see clubs like Moskva and Rubin doing well in the Russian league.....

It was to be expected...and seriously, I do not think Alania can ever recover. The economic structure of Ossetia is too weak, I guess....:(

At least Russia has enough big cities, so there will be always enough clubs who could replace the former ones. If they had the infrastructure...

Anyway, my second favourite club is gone.
