Both tournaments will be played around the same time with Centenario starting a bit earlier than Euro 2016 and finishing earlier too.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Euro_2016

Question is which one will be the better tournament?

Centenario probably has the advantage in America's great infrastructure and stadiums as well the fact that the quality of teams is condensed to 16.

Euro 2016 will have the best team in the World in Germany but also a few average teams making up the final 24.

However, you could also argue that France has the better footballing culture and will provide a much better atmosphere than the centenario in the states.

The USA has a colony for almost every single country in the world, specially for any south american country, so it will be a very good atmosphere in the stadiums.

Technically, should be very even, but the EURO format is more entertaining.

However, the only place were you can get a Brazil x Argentina game or a Brazil x Uruguay game is in Copa America.:drunk::proud:

Not sure which is better, but it's going to be one heck of a summer for the average football fan. Euro 2016 in France, Copa America Centenario in the U.S, and then the Summer Olympics in Brazil to top it all off.

Will be a very young and exciting Euro.
Belgium England France Spain Italy Portugal
all interesting while Germany
will look to do a France 98 2000 double
to further cement all time superiority.

Possibly the best Copa from modern times.
Argentina to win :)

to further cement all time superiority.
not this again.

any european country that wins a WC, automatically becomes "the greatest champion ever" :wallbang:

and argentina has not won a trophy in 21 years.

They have not won a world cup in 32 years. Messi's generation has never seen argentina win a cup.

they have only won 4 trophies since 1959.

they will not win it in 2016

the mexicans wont allow it this team

and 1000 gols, 1000 gols
SO PELE, SO PELE

The Euro 2016 will be terrible after they changed the format and expanded it to 24 teams. Greedy assholes.

Germany overtook Brasil, smashed them at home in historic fashion and lifted the cup in their backyard. Their world cup history is more consistent too...
Number 2 of 200+ nations is hardly a disappointment though.

I agree , if the world ended today this would be true.
Since history is ongoing as far as the official count Germany
simply tied Italy. By your messaurments Ze (and mine) there
is no bonus for consistency or final appearances.
So Germany choke a lot in the finals ? So what?

Italy was beat by the best team ever in 1970
and tied a very good Brasilian squad in 1994
( thank you Baresi ) if one wants to be picky.

Euro cups are simply about European rivalry
not all time greatness as it's immeasurable.
If you count Euros then Spain is ahead of Argentina??

Germany simply get beat.

its always been like that

if you want to count euros, we can count copa america

then argentina have 14 or 15, uruguay have a huge amount also.

anyway, me as a fan, i prefer to win confederation cup to copa america. and i prefer to beat argentina in a final than to win the copa america also:)

we won it 4 times

continental cups are to be graded as continental cups

denmark, and greece have won that.. so its not like its really difficult to win it .

world cups is what is the true measurement and the real glamour.

the rest you can debate after the world cup debate.

the true reality is that there are 3 sĂşper powers in football, brazil, germany and italy.

argentina are starting to be the leader of the pack on the second group, with uruguay, france, spain and england. we can possibly add holland to that group, despite never winning a world cup, but 3 times runners up deserves a mention. :)

Tim Vickery talked about this tournament on the WF podcast saying he believes South American teams will send "B" and "C" teams to this tournament and that CONMEBOL views this simply as a cash-grab (nothing new)

But Americans will still pay ridiculous prices to watch these games

Cool, I went to a bunch of game too.

dont know how i din't get killed in that arg x belgium game.... the argies were nice to me :) i was not nice to them :howler::musik::cecco:

best games though were:

Bra x Col
Eng x Costa Rica (crap game, amazing atmosphere)
bel x arg
col- ivory coast
fra x nig
bra x hol was dissapointing
swiss x ecuador was a snore fest

worst game was portugal x ghana... had to watch EDER :yuck: play

Only real crap game was Belgium-Russia. Uruguay-Colombia was the best I saw.
Great atmosphere in the stadia, especially when the South American teams were playing. The Argies were the best fans IMO.
Great atmosphere in the Rio fanfest and Copacabana as well.
Still going through Post World Cup Withdrawal syndrome. Trying to get heroin from a co-worker to get a high :howler::eekani:

Obviously EURO will be far superior as there are many more good teams...CA is between Argentina and Brazil (well, that is if they take it seriously, which they often do not). Pointless tournament which lacks historical credibility.

Since 1996, I think only 1 or 2 Quarter Finals were interesting enough at the Euro that you could say would have decided the winner of the tournament... Spain-France in 2000 and Portugal-England in 2004.
Now, with 24 teams, we will have a borefest till the SF, maybe something interesting earlier if the draw helps it ( like Germany-France and Slovenia-Slovakia Iceland-Northern Ireland and Spain-Portugal in QF lol ).
But it's still better than the Copa America, at least the WC survives as an OK tournament though I sense that except for the German team with Messi+1-2 other Argentine players and Robben from Netherlands really didn't care as much as people think maybe only with the hearts and tears but not willing to break a leg for it knowing their precious cash is waiting back in Europe at the club. With a bit of an effort we could've seen Costa Rica in the SF for f sakes!
