I will never forget the game in Skopje in I believe March of 99 in the match that was the sole reason we didnt make it to Euro 2000. The 1-1 draw. If I remember correctly Suker scored in the 1st half and I thought for sure we were going to win and then in the last 7 min Macedonia scored and screwed us up. A draw would be good for us this time around but it will be a tough test. I do recall the Skopje crowd being quite intimidatiing.

Hoping for a draw (and a legitimate draw, not a Suho type draw:smileani: ) at least so we can all breathe easy and relax heading into the england game...

This will be a real tough game...and I hope we don't fall behind to them again...if we do, it will be a pressure cooker....

that being said, I also see the ruskies drawing in israel so this game will when its all said and done for qualification purposes not matter...

Fingers crossed that we don't get any injuries leading into the game.:scared:

Talking of the England game there was an NFL game at Wembley last Sunday and as it was raining and the roof wasn't closed they completely destroyed the pitch.
A torn up pitch would definately suit england more than us.
But...
I thnk the grass can regenerate itself in 20 days so this shouldnt be a huge concern.

As it's new grass they have had problems with the pitch at Wembley since it opened in the summer. If you watched the FA Cup final it was impossible to pass he ball as the pitch was cut up so much. Hopefully it's sorted out as it will definitely suit England and their long ball tactics. They'll probably play Heskey and Crouch up front. :smileani:

Heskey and Crouch would be a wonderful tandem...LOL
Long ball from defence to heskeys head, who knocks it to crouches head, who knocks it back to heskeys head, who gets pummled by Simunic and Corluka :D

I hope we dont have to get a result from the game in england. I just hope that we sort it all out in Skoplje!

Groundstaff working round the clock on Wembley

The Wembley groundstaff have pledged to do everything possible to ensure England have a perfect surface for their final Euro 2008 qualifier with Croatia on November 21.

Although England's hopes of reaching next summer's finals hang in the balance after their defeat in Russia earlier this month, should Guus Hiddink's men fail to win in Israel, victory over Croatia will take the Three Lions through.

However, the prospect of the game being played in less than perfect conditions has been raised after the NFL clash between New York Giants and Miami Dolphins at the new stadium on Sunday.

In extremely wet conditions, the surface cut up badly and there are fears the problems which arose immediately after the stadium opened, which Wembley officials claimed was due to their groundstaff being given insufficient time to prepare the surface for the opening under-21 game in March, had not been solved and, according to one expert, never would be.

However, while the FA have refused to comment on the matter, a spokesman for Wembley remained confident head groundsman Steve Welch would have enough time to get the pitch back to a playable state.

'We now have three and a half weeks before our next major event on November 21,' said the spokesman.

'Our grounds team will be working around the clock, as they do in between every event at Wembley, to ensure that the pitch is in the best condition possible for England's game against Croatia.'
