With the first round completed the opponents are known:

  • Rijeka in the Europa League will play Romanian side Corvinul Hunedoara, a Romanian 2nd division side who somehow won their cup. Rijeka should really progress and if they do they are in decent shape to make at least the groups
  • Osijek will play Estonia side Levadia Tallinn in the Conference League
  • Hajduk already knew their opponents; HB Torshavn
  • Dinamo won't know their first opponents until August

Thanks HS!

Hajduk beat Torshavn 2:0, pretty uncompetitive game however with Hajduk's history in Europe a two goal lead is still dicey, should have scored more

Osijek with an easy win over Levadia, 5:1 with Mierez getting a first half hattrick, they did actually conceded first

Rijeka got a fairly disappointing scoreless draw in Romania, you would expect them to finish the job at home but their squad is a lot weaker than last seasons. The team they played was wearing blue checkerboard kits :ROFLMAO:

Osijek through after two easy wins over Levadia, their next opponents are not known yet but likely to be Azeri side Zira should they hold on to their big first leg lead. Draw could certainly open up for them though Azeri sides can be tricky especially if you get a bad result away

Have to go to work soon but Rijeka are dominating their match, however only up 1:0 nearing halftime (really should be up by a couple by now)

Rijeka progress, overall they were better team but the Romanians missed a penalty late in the match. Didn’t watch the 2nd half but they played a crazy amount of injury time and apparently the ref lost control of the match with him not calling some clear penalties for Rijeka

Rijeka next play Swedish side Elfsborg, quite important as if Rijeka progress that they are guaranteed group stage Euro football. If they lose they will get 2nd chance in the Conference League playoffs

Well Hajduk progress but it’s same story as in previous years, only this time they actually didn’t make it too nervy but Torshavn apparently had their chances.

Rijeka will play Swedish side Elfsborg but they have the security of remaining in Europe even if they fail to progress

Osijek will play Azeri side Zira
Hajduk will play Slovakia side Ruzemberok
*unlike Rijeka both will be eliminated if they fail to progress

Playoff draws were made today, everybody but Hajduk should be relatively happy

  • Dinamo will play the winner of Ludogorets/Qarabag in the CL playoffs
  • If Rijeka progress past Elfsborg they will play winner of Molde/Cercle Brugge; if they lose to Elfsborg they will drop to the Conference League and play winner of Olimpija Ljubljana/Sheriff Tiraspol
  • If Hajduk get past the Slovakians they will play winner of Noah/AEK Athens
  • If Osijek progress past Zira they will play winner of Omonia Nicosia/Videoton

Three draws, I’m not overly surprised I was expecting a 1-1-1 today. Osijek have to be the biggest disappointment conceding a late penalty but how can you take seriously a club who sell their best player a day before a Euro match. I was expecting Rijeka to lose against a team in mid season but I probably overestimated that factor, still Rijeka couldn’t take advantage of a 10-man Elfsborg and now have to win away from home. Hajduk is doing what they usually do in Europe, under Gatusso we won’t see any good football but they run/ work harder. Maybe I got my blinders on but they should finish the job at home but it will be tight as usual. Its looking like another season of probably relying on Dinamo, even though the path for Rijeka and Osijek is there for the taking (Hajduk too if Noah manage to eliminate AEK)

Would be classic if when we finally get favorable draws, we screw it up. Still a long way to go to 15th spot but this season is a good chance to pick up points.

I think if Rijeka win, they are guaranteed at least ECL group stage?

Osijek again concede in the last minute against Zira and now the game is going to ET

Rijeka still scoreless with Elfsborg early 2nd half, Rijeka started well but Elfsborg have overall had the better chances

In a game thats an interest for Hajduk, Noah is still holding on to a 3:1 aggregate lead over AEK with a half to go

Zira and Ruzomberok join the illustrious list

Rijeka live to fight another day but atm even Olimpija is at best a 50/50 tie

HNL clubs have no ambition or planning. The league is boring as hell and pretty much 60% foreigners who don’t bring extra quality. The clubs play the same way the NT does, slow/pedestrian, no wingers. But good news that the HNS got rid of the second teams in the lower leagues

Just an utter embarrassment for hnl clubs. Osijek choked again after blowing the last game late they did it again. Not going to even mention the pks.
Rijeka did not show up and deservedly lost.
Now Hajduk the biggest disaster out of all the clubs. You lose on an auto goal after creating so many chances but can’t finish. Livaja my God how many chances do you need man to score a freaking goal.
