Take your pick and why

Cafu is more technical and experienced. Zambrotta is more versatile, yes, but Cafu is simply better.

Let's avoid comparing the trophies they won, because no player in the world today can compare to Cafu in THAT department. ;)

I've watched Zambrotta play 3 or 4 times at right-back and he's not that convincing there, IMHO.

Easily the best left-back in the world though.

No comparison - ZAMBROTTA IS FAR BETTER, HE HAS EVERYFING! AND UNLIKE CAFU, ZAMBO IS very versatile, can play as a LB,RB,RM,LM and is a professional, not a dirty cheat like CAFU.

Cafu is easily one of the best offensive wingbacks of the past decade, Zambrotta is the better all-round player though.

It must be said that Cafu IS very versatile. Through his career, he also played as leftback (for example in Brasil's game vs the United States in the 94 WC, where he replaced Leonardo and played well), defensive midfielder (for São Paulo) and even as a forward (yes, a forward – São Paulo defeated Barcelona in the Intercontinental Cup with Cafu playing upfront).

So you see, it's a mistake to say that Zambrotta is versatile "unlike Cafu". They're both versatile players. And Cafu is superior to Zambrotta. ;)

Yeah but not regularly and to the standard of Zambrotta. I cud name loads of Brazilians who r as good as Cafu and who cud play in any position in the Brasileiro league. Cicinho and Gabriel r better for instance. Im sure Zambrotta cud play upfront in the Brasileiro and be better thn most of the other players.

Zambrotta at the moment. This guy is amazing, probably the best wing-back in the world at the moment, not to mention that wing-back isn't even his natural position!
Cafu was amazing in his prime though, no doubt a class above most.

Guys I used to think that Marc was biased, but Ze da Fiel
is something else. Brazilians rule, everyone else sucks in his
mind.. come on.. be realistic.

Zambrotta is better right now, he can defend better to start
with and he is younger. Cafu in his prime may have been better
but now Luca Zambrotta is the man
