I think we can see the true "la roja" in La Paz!!!:excited:

It's the strongest squad that Chile can make.Almost all the regulars of the previous matches plus
-Jorge Vargas, who has games in his feet now, after his transfer to Empoli.
-Claudio Maldonado! He's back in NT!!!He'll play an official match for us after a long period...
-David Pizarro with no more injury problems.
-The best of all...Marcelo Salas is back,in form and ready this time to play after 2 years!!!
-Seba Gonzalez and Rodrigo Valenzuela are in the squad again and if needed they will play. The same for Villaroel who seemed to be lost after France'98.

Adding the likes of Contreras, Olarra, Melendez, Pinilla and Navia why not conquering La Paz?It's maybe the most important game till now, cause the result will affect Chile's goals and morale for the next of the tournament.

Some regulars have already began to train in a high altitude in order to be prepared for the match.

Vaaamos Vaaamos Chileeenos!!!

I don't follow Argentinian league much...but I did notice that El Matador is scoring again and playing some of his great usual football. It will be hard for us to stop him...

prediction: Bolivia 2 - 1 Chile

Chile coach Juvenal Olmos has given his blessing for former national striker Ivan Zamorano to try and persuade America-Mexico to release two players early for a South American World Cup qualifier.
Striker Reinaldo Navia and defender Ricardo Rojas are the players Chile want released five days before their match against Bolivia on March 30 and former America-Mexico star Zamorano believes his good ties with the club could help persuade them to let the players travel early, instead of the regulation two days before the game.

"Zamorano has a great relationship with the officials of America so he has offered himself for travelling and to talk to them and we have accepted", said Chile coach Olmos.

"Zamorano will try to convince America to let us have the two players five days before the match against Bolivia that is very important for us."

Zamorano added: "I am very happy for being able to help the national team. I hope to have luck with the officials of America and that they let the players come five days before the match against Bolivia."

Bolivia has got to be the worse team in South America. If they were to play their home games on sea level I doubt they would gather more that 5 points the entire tourney.

Chile should win by a single goal margin.

Yes,i kept some money and by 90% i'll take a ticket's packet of Greece games.:)

...And i know how it is not to have seen your fav team, being inside the stadium.;)
I was expecting Chile to come here for the Olympics this summer but they lost in the final round of the quals.
I was unlucky other years too, when i was praying for a club of Salas to play in Greece but nothing...this year Salas is out of Juve, but Juve came to Greece!!

Right now Bolivian NT sucks, the disorganization is such that I have to admit we are probably the easiest team to face right now. As for playing at home; if other teams came to La Paz without being so scared of the altitude and instead focusing on their football we would probably lose many matches at home with our current form; but fortunately for us lot of teams come to La Paz peeing their pants solely thinking about the altitude and make our job easier ;)

It will be a very close match, 2-1 for Bolivia, with Castillo and Botero scoring for Bolivia and "El Matador" for Chile

OOOLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

That was a really great win affected by "el matador"'s return!!!!

Bolivia - Chile 0-2 with goals by Moises Villaroel in 38' of the first half and Mark Gonzalez win's securing one in the second half.

Seven points now for Chile and according to the next games' results we can even reach the first 5 spots!!!

Finally,Chileans were ready to face La Paz altidute, the main opponent,as Bolivian team seem crap.

colocolo,i always admired Chileans' habit to score with the head when the team has not such a big average height.

Everything goes well till now,and let's hopeto see the team in German stadiums.;)

I couldn't see this match as TVN of Chile had no more la roja's games on international view...:rollani:

Salas know how to make this job greatly.;)
Especially in the NT,he MUST do this job and if Juvenal Olmos gave that intrsuctions to Salas then we can say a "bravo" to him.Marcelo in his (always big) clubs he has easier staff but playing for Chile and being the most quality player by far,he has to play from the centre and up,taking the ball and creating opportunities for his teammates. Then the whole team's game will be improved...and that happens for every non-great team but with some good individuals.;)

...and i agree: GRACIAS MATADOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :proud:

I hear that Mark Gonzalez did as he pleased down the left flank. Too bad his accuracy on crosses leaves a lot to be desired of.

Good result for Chile, tho it seems that they're a pessimist bunch. Every time I talk to a Chilean, despite their good players, they always expect the worse. In other words, their cup is always half empty.

South American WCQ Tuesday Wrap: Argentina and Chile Win
Argentina - Ecuador | Latest News | Match Report | News Archive

Crespo celebrates his goal against Ecuador (AFP)
03/30/2004. A Hernan Crespo strike in the 60th minute was enough to seal a home victory for Argentina as they toppled Ecuador in World Cup qualifying on Tuesday.

With this result, Argentina moves into first place in the standings. They sit two points up on Paraguay who are in action against Brazil on Wednesday.

Elsewhere on Tuesday, it was Chile beating Bolivia 2-0 as Marcelo Salas made his international return and inspired his team to victory.

Salas set up Chile's first goal in the 38th minute as keeper Jose Fernandez could only parry his swerving free kick and midfielder Moises Villaroel knocked in the rebound with a diving header from close range.

Chile netted their second goal against the run of play in the 59th minute, as striker Mauricio Pinilla jinked past three defenders and crossed over to the far post where Mark Gonzalez slid in and scored.

This is a vital win for Chile as Bolivia are hard to beat at home.

Bolivia 0-2 Chile: Salas inspires

LA PAZ, March 30 (Reuters) - Chilean striker Marcelo Salas inspired his team to a 2-0 World Cup qualifying win away to Bolivia on Tuesday in his first international for two-and-a-half years.

Hampered by injury since his last appearance against Brazil in October 2001, Salas dictated the pace of the game as his side made light of the difficult conditions in La Paz, at 3,600 metres above sea level.

Salas also set up Chile's 38th minute opener when Bolivia goalkeeper Jose Fernandez could only parry his swerving free kick and the ball fell to midfielder Moises Villaroel, who scored with a diving header from close range.

The stunned Bolivians made a lively start to the second half, forcing Chile's veteran goalkeeper Nelson Tapia into several good saves.

But Chile struck a killer blow in the 59th minute when striker Mauricio Pinilla, who had come on three minutes earlier, weaved past three defenders and crossed to the far post, finding Mark Gonzalez, who slid the ball into their net.

Bolivia were jeered off the field by the 40,000 crowd after suffering a critical blow to their hopes of qualifying for Germany in 2006.

Coach Nelson Acosta had said that Bolivia would have to make the most of the altitude factor and win all their home games to have a chance.

Chile, beaten at home by Paraguay in their last match, have seven points from five games in the South American qualifying group while Bolivia have only three.
