Since we don't have the EUROs to look forward to unfortunately, this is the best thing we'll get this summer.

I believe that the rules are you can select any players born after 1985, as well as 3 other players. So basically we could call up a team very similar in strength to our national team. I'm not sure if Kuzmanovic is eligible but given that this is no longer UEFA U21s, he should be able to play, even if he played on the Swiss U21.

Dude isn't this like....next September?

Bored and have nothing do to, huh? :pp

Btw I'm not so sure about the 3 players over 23

isnt it U23 team that goes to the olympics.
meaning its the U-21 team this yr.
plus 3 players above the age of 23

id choose Zigic, Vidic and Stojkovic
but its most likly going to be a bunch of no names, because no one care about the olympics

Worse, I actually should be studying for an exam tomorrow but I decided to take a break. :smileani: I saw another forum with a thread about the Olympics so decided to start one here.

I always thought it started early in the summer but I checked and the Olympics start August 8.

If you look at the teams, there's some pretty impressive names so I think it should be pretty enterainting. If Ayala and Pirlo can play for their teams, some of our players shoud be able to as well.

Well this has become an exam thread:D. My third one is tomorrow and then I have two on Friday :wallbang:.

Marko3 what are you studying?
I'd hate to have two exams in a day. Usually, the day before the exam I forget everthing else and just focus on that one exam so I'd hate to have two that you have to keep track of.

And I'm studying Electrical Engineering. Luckily I only have 4 exams this semester. One today, one tomorrow, one Thursday and one next Tuesday.

Btw if we can call up players over 23 we should call up Djordjevic and make him the captain of this team. I'm sure Olympiacos would let him play since he has done a lot for them and they wouldn't be able to tell him 'no' if we wanted to play - and I believe he would accept the call up.

Djordjevic should be one of them for sure. Other people to consider are Zigic, Darko Kovacevic, Jankovic. Zigic and Jankovic could use some playing time at a competitive tournament they can shine in. Kovacevic is in the same situation as Djordjevic where it's worth it to see him have a final shot.

Zigic, Djordjevic and Ivanovic should be called up.....

--------------------------Bojan Ĺ aranov----------------------
Ljubomir Fejsa----Slobodan Rajković----Ivanovic----Predrag Pavlović
Stefan Babović-----Djordjevic-----Milan Smiljanić----Zoran Tošić
----------------Zigic----------------Gojko KaÄŤar--------------

Players born before January 1, 1985 are restricted from playing. So players who can play for us:

Goalkeepers:
Damir Kahriman
Aleksandar Kesic
Igor Stefanovic

Defenders:
Dusko Tosic
Aleksandar Kolarov
Slobodan Rajkovic
Ljubomir Fejsa
Nenad Adamovic

Midfielders:
Zdravko Kuzmanovic
Milan Smiljanic
Stefan Babovic
Zoran Tosic
Predrag Pavlovic
Nebojsa Marinkovic
Nikola Gulan
Milos Bosancic
Dusan Tadic

Forwards:
Djordje Rakic
Miralem Sulejmani
Gojko Kacar
Andrija Kaludjerovic
Filip Djordjevic

My team:

Sulejmani-Zigic
Z. Tosic-Smiljanic-Kuzmanovic-Babovic
Kolarov-Krstajic-Rajkovic-Ivanovic
Kahriman

It's a team that could be our NT. Since Kuzmanovic and Smiljanic should be starters on the NT, the Olympics should be a chance for them to gain experience with each other. That's why I don't want to include Djordjevic as he would just take the pressure off them, which they have to get used to. It will be a good test for them to see how they preform.

The defence is the weakest part of the team and needs some strong central defenders. I feel Dusko Tosic deserves to start but there's just not room for him. I don't feel comfortable with him at any position except LB, where Kolarov is better.

Krstajic is a good veteran who can help get the best out of Rajkovic. It would be his last time with the NT imo.

I think that he'll only select players who he's considering for WC qualifiers, that means no Djordjevic, Krstajic or Kovacevic. If they can all make the tournament, he'll probably select a squad very similar to the one at the Under-21 EURO tournament. I'm 99% sure he'll take Rukavina too, since he stated his belief that he was the best Serbian player of the year (above Vidic etc...)

BillyBob u have to agree that his rise as a player has been quite successful in the past yr.

he is a good player but crossing needs lots of work, if he can get that, he can really go places

I think Marin should be called up for this. Hopefully, he can secure a move out of Borussia Monchengladbach by then because I can see the Germans acting angrily if he plays for us. I believe that's the main thing preventing him for committing to us publicly.

If Djukic can get him to play, then this team looks very, very interesting with Kuzmanovic, Smiljanic, and Marin all playing. It would be a great opportunity for Djukic to get familiar with some of our younger players too.

I don't know the rules there but he won't be going back to Germany if he plays for our Olympic team either way.
I don't think Marin will choose Serbia over Germany, the chances of that happening are very very slim. I see him in a German jersey in South Africa!!!
