it's not even a contest if you compare the two objectively.
"in their prime"

Shearer at Blackburn games 138 goals 130 goal every 0.942 games

Batistuta at Fiorentina games 269 goals 168 goal every 0.625 games

yeah "objectively" no contest Shearer wins easily.

Personaly I prefer batistuta

why would you prefer Batigol if Shearer had the better stats? Obviously, you thought Batigol was better if you compare the two as far as the whole package of a player is concerned. Besides, Batigol scored those goals in Serie A, and it's harder to score in Serie A in my view.

Batigol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:strong: (Im sure you're all shocked ! )

Shearer's patented *elbow the defender* and oh! suddenly Shearer is free one on one with the goalie style never appealed to me too much :smileani: ajajajjajajajajajajjajajaja

Shearer.......

Pens, freekicks, headers, volleys, left foot, right foot, lobs, corners, crosses, a battle... what didn't he have. Without his injuries he would of kept his pace and he could easily be one of the best strikers of all time. Yet playing for 'marginal' teams with serious injuries he has set an alltime league record and club record in goals. Your damn right it isn't a contest.

Club level means little, though there are exceptions.

Shearer is no Weagh. There is no excuse for his lack of excelling in international performances.
It's slightly OT but I'm not arguing about Shearer here. How can you judge a player when you give their club peformances little value?

As I said, there are exceptions to the rule, like I gave an example of. The reality is that often times the club level is just one to three clubs beating the crap out of much, much weaker opponents. As long as the international player has played at least 30-40 games and played on decent international sides, the international games are far, far more accurate indicator.

Both were exceptional players, but im with Gabriel Omar Batistuta. The guy was a poweful beast desperate to score. Like Maradona described him, "es un animal del gol".
The fiorentina of the 90's was made from that guy. He was the franchise player. Not to mention that he was one of the main reasons why Roma won the Scudetto after many many years of drought.
