The 15 candidates for our WC-roster were made public. Sakota just finished his press-conference.

This is the list:

Nenad Krstić, Darko Miličić, Kosta Perović, Mile Ilić, Dejan Milojević, Ognjen Aškrabić, Miroslav Raičević, Aleksandar Pavlović, Branko Jorović, Luka Bogdanović, Igor Rakočević, Uroš Tripković, Vule Avdalović, Bojan Popović i Marko Marinović.

Sakota didn't lie when he promised us a young team and I applaud him for it. These guys might not be good enough to win us the gold, but they certainly are our future.

No Jaric, Gurovic, Stojakovic, Radman, Bodiroga Tomasevic, Rebraca, Drobnjak etc. But I am glad to see our youngsters from the NBA on the list.

Another new start, we'll see how far it brings us.

What can I say? Could be a good direction, but I feel it's a shame we have chosen it since players like Stojak, Jare and Radman are far from being old and hence there shouldn't be any need for "starting from zero".

Unfortunately, Sakota probably didn't have any choice.

Well, we saw what happened the last time we called up our 'big names', we got embarressed in front of our own people like never before. Therefore, if it means we're going to have to settle for less, so be it, as long as these guys fight for it and I'm sure they're eager enough to restore Serbia's image across the planet.

I think its a good decision...
it wont bring us the gold or even a medal.
But i want a young team, to start over again...no more fights, arguments, and players(Stojkovic) who are too good to play for the NT anymore. Sakoto is doing(probably) the same thing thats going to happen to the football team... a new country a new begining...btw are we going in this as Srbija or SCG?

I would have thought that the solution to the problems would have been knocking some sense into our players rather than not calling them up anymore, because I am not convinced we can afford it. These young blokes might fight hard, but I think they will be beaten and they will be beaten badly. And that can't do their confidence much good.

It's sad to see our basketball go down the drain, at least for now. I pray to God I am wrong.

I'm glad to see that Uros is in the team. :)

I miss the generation of Predrag Danilovic, Vlade Divac, Sasa Djordjevic etc, they bought the gold home.
Hopefully this new generation can do some damage and hopefully win it :hopefull:

I'm not sure. We could of done with Radmanovic at SF IMO. A front court with him combined with Milicic at Krstic could of challenged anyone IMO.

I don't think Serbia can compete with the United States, Spain, Argentina and Lithuania. They will most likely lose against opponents like Germany, Greece, France and Italy, and there are probably others I have forgotten.

The problem I have with such a young team is that it will create a huge void in medals for the next few years, even though we have more talented and more experienced players (ignoring the debacle of last year). From what I understand, though, players like Vujanic, Stojakovic, Radmanovic and Jaric will be back in the line-up for next years European Championship, which is good.

I applaud the man for being so stupid to call up our legendary PF who's shorter than USA guards. I mean he's Partizans best player, and they lose every other match in Europe by 40pts. If he cant compete with Garbajosa's and the other idiots at the club level, he aint gonna compete with them at national level.

IMO Milicic should start as PF anyway, but I think you're being harsh on Milojevic, he was one of the best players in our league and just earned himself a transfer to Pamesa.

AMO, they're the future of Serbian basketball! :strong:

Oh BTW, since this topic is 'hot' in every sport. All of the guys competing are Serbs, the only Montenegrin by birth, Pavlovic, had told Sakota twice that he's going to represent Serbia after the break-up.

I think our basketball association should try to do something about the national symbols when there's apparantly no-one to protest.

I just hope they won't make fools of themselves again, last time was a disaster

Good to see all those overrated stars out of the squad.

Cabarkapa is missing,im guessing he chose CG?
This is still the SCG team. I guess Cabarkapa was simply not chosen.

Btw where is Milojevic from? I know he played for Buducnost, but is he actually from CG?
