Our midfield was pure gold today. Seedorf is rising back to the top, Pirlo is also like reborn, Ambro played great going almost box-to-box all the time and Kaká of course shined like he had rested for 2 weeks.

Ronaldo was also impressive as ever today and great for Gila that he got brace.

Now rest at least Pirlo and Nesta against Cagliari, maybe Seedorf too. I think Kaká will play because we are so uncreative without him and Pirlo, either one must be fielded.

It's nice to hear Gila regains some confidence through the goals. As I have said before, the Ronaldo-Gila combo is balanced and effective, we should stick with this combo in the league, saving SUPERPIPPO for the big stage.:)

And sad to hear Kalac being 'Kalac' again...

Now we should rest Kaka and Pirlo in the next league game...

This game didn't make me any more confident about the ManU game at all :(
ManU would have scored 7 in this game (mind you, we'd score 5). Kalac is a huge liability.

Let's rest Kaka on Sunday, 1st half with Kaka = Milan 4, 2nd half without Kaka, Milan 1, nuff said

Well this is impressive, in one week we have 10 goals in 3 matches, and all away games!

Is this a sign of things to came in a week's time? :lick:

Sonnetti really got things wrong today with 3-5-2 against Milan. To many times they were exposed at the back. Carlo in the other hand played all his cards right. Then again 5-2 isn't really surprising from the top team in europe considering our good spell of form. With 6 games to go and 4 ahead of Palermo we should seal the 4 spot soon.

Kalac - 6, gave a way a penalty although technically it shouldn't of being given. The second goal might of being saved but then again it deceived even Nesta. Was solid on set-pieces and crosses which he dealt with easily all day.

Jankulovski - 6.5, wasn't really tested today in defence although was found wanting on a few occasions in positioning and passing. Did well to keep pushing forward and linking with the midfield. Provided the cross for Gilardino's second goal.

Bonera - 6.5, could of had a better game but was crucial in important challenges when the pressure was on.

Nesta - 7, if anything his awesome run down the left flank meant he got and extra .5. Otherwise solid most of the day and especially clearing the ball in the box.

Oddo - 5.5, not the best of games and was poor in defence today and while he went forward most of his crosses or passes ended up as counter-attacks for Ascoli. Even had a beautiful assist from Pirlo which he squandered to easily.

Ambrosini - 6, was missing for most of the game. Did a usual few good things in the midfield also brang out the best in the ex-Milan keeper with a header from a corner.

Pirlo - 8, superlative in his ability to control the midfield. Almost every attack was instigated through him and even when Kaka came off, pushed up forward more causing Ascoli headaches. Not one foot wrong.

Seedorf - 7.5, continued his excellent run of form today showing his good ball control and also linking up well in the midfield and attack. His chip-goal at the end was sublime and well taken.

Kaka - 8, superb match again and I still think he is the best player in the world. Can't be stopped when dribbling, passing or scoring. Finished with 2 goals. That's all I need to say.

Ronaldo - 7.5, I guess he is not 'fatnaldo' anymore having played a few days ago a full game and now he lasted over 60 mins as well and yet lost little speed or run in the game. Held the ball well, passed it well and should of had another goal today if it wasn't for the incorrect call by the linesman but it mattered little because he was involved in two other goals where he won a penalty and provided a superb assist for Gilardino's opener. Superb.

Gilardino - 7.5, even with all the criticisms he gets he still our top scorer 18 goals and today took his chances most importantly. Could of had a hat-trick but decided to pass it across and to no avail. If only he could do this in the big matches.

Gattuso - 6.5, came on in the second half and replaced Kaka. Made some important challenges which you would expect.

Oliviera and Grimi s.v. came on made little impact.

p.s. from the frew minutes he was on Grimi appeared quite quick and pacey and had good ball distrubution. Got every pass right.

All right Rossoneri! I think this was a good practice run now all Carlo has to do is rest the main guys for this coming Saturday. With Nesta, Oddo, Maldini, and Jankolovski coming back next week hopefully any flaws will be ironed out. And, will Kalac really start next week or does anybody know if Dida will be better, they haven't confirmed anything yet. And I'm hoping that Storari (my miracle of course) will get the nod for OT instead of Kalac.

Regarding the next home league match against Cagliari(two days before Man Utd game). Given that my inclination to start Kaladze ahead of Janku for the Man Utd tie, I'd play the following formation,

-----------------Kalac------------------

Cafu-------Simic-------Bonera-----Janku

------------------Rino------------------
----Gourcuff----------------Seedorf-----
------------------Kaka------------------

-----------Gila------------Ronaldo------

I'd rest Oddo-Nesta-Maldini-Kaladze-Pirlo-Pippo for the Man Utd game, especially Maldini and Pippo, who are carrying minor injuries.

I'd sub Brocchi or Ambro on for Kaka at halftime or on 60th minute, we need to ensure the 3 points by fielding Kaka on the start, but as soon as we gain the lead, the Brazilian should be given the rest.

And honestly I am worried about the defence in my lineup too, but I'd rather save Kaladze-Maldini-Nesta-Oddo for the all important tie with Man Utd.

FORZA MILAN

Rest Kaka as well and possibly Gila, Ronaldo can settle that game alone up front (meaning with Oliveira)

You mean a 4-3-3 formation with Ronaldo-Gila-Oli ?

Personally I'd be very interested to see this because given that Kaka is out, we really need firepower up front.

But did Carlo ever play 3 starting forwards in his coaching career?
