Dear all,

The AFC is well underway, for those just not quite good enough for the honour of the qualifying sections.

I am British but follow Kyrgyzstan's progress and with the form David Tette is in, they are now off to the finals.

My question is... does anyone care about this, and football in post-Soviet Central Asia in general??

The AFC Challenge cup?

It's nice for the smallest sides in Asia to participate in.

The difference in standard is quite big in Asia. Thailand, for example the strongest side in SE Asia are getting beaten at the moment by Lebanon who are one of the weaker sides in the Middle East.

Well Pakistan doesn't seem to do any well at it but it is Pakistan, but seriously, I think for the smaller countries in Asia it is a chance to play as if they were playing in a Euro match, and make themselves feel bigger, and it gives countries to feel happy and proud about.
