definitely a big game player, has the tools to become some player if he just thinks a little more on the pitch. only zlatan comes to mind when you think of tall players with such incredible skill.

didnt think tonight was his best game- though i felt we should have put him in the hole with song and denilson protecting- hope he gets better and better.

Didn't think he was that good tonight either.

I thought he was awesome tonight, especially considering how useless most of our other players were. He really did remind me a lot of Viera out there tonight. Had a great touch, smooth passes, and was tackling even in their half of the field.

I admit I have doubted his ability, though that is probably because I am very emotional and impatient. We will just have to wait and see though. As far as I'm concerned he has the ability to become a huge player or a major flop. These next few years for him are vital ofcourse.

I don't buy this "he ain't trying" malarkey anyway. You couldn't get away with supposed shirking of duty if you are a professional footballer playing in a club like Arsenal every week. It wouldn't be tolerated. People see what they want to see. He is similar in his running style to Adebayor. That is they both have languid styles and this can be misunderstood for laziness.

Diaby running back and helping out the defence has nothing to do with his running style, he just cannot be bothered at times. Adebayor's work-rate has just deteriorated to the point where at times you don't even see him on the pitch. That again has nothing to do with his running style, just poor work-rate.

It's funny though isn't that the two players that are most criticised for being lazy and having no workrate are Adebayor and Diaby. Funny in that they both have very general styles about them and similar builds. Both lanky f*ckers.

Still say that if you are a professional footballer at a club like Arsenal you wouldn't get away with all this shirking of duties during matches that Diaby and Adebayor have been continuosly accused of in this forum.

Maybe more of a case with Adebayor because he does seem to think that he has arrived and seems a bit above himself but not Diaby. With Diaby it seems that he is just not that intelligent yet in the midfield. Plus he is naturally an ACM so defensive duties are not first nature to him. We have Monsieur Wenger to thank again.

I don't buy your lanky/languid argument one bit. Hell, Vieira was pretty lanky and I don't think any of us have ever questioned his work ethic, he always left his heart on the field.

My hockey team have a player (Jeff Carter) who is also lanky/languid, but he is always back on defense and taking the puck away.

When Adebayor doesn't win a single header the entire game (which happens increasingly more often) and when Diaby can't win the ball off of Etuhu or Murphy, it's not because they're languid. It's because they aren't giving effort.

Note that I also singled out Denilson who isn't lanky or languid.

EDIT: Also, AW thinks that Eboue is a quality right winger and that Denilson is a leading EPL midfielder, so I'm not sure how much he really sees at the club anymore.

Some of the players are not good enough at the moment. We had this discussion before. It seems that people want them to run around like lunatics for 90 minutes to make up for this. They are not good enough. We all know the weaknesses of the team but it gets tiresome when the same players are continually berated. The midfield is a worry of course. It needs strengthening in the summer. But what is just as much of a weakness or possibly even bigger one at the moment for the team? What do you think? It's the left side of defence. The fullback position. The team are going to get killed there in a big way when the going gets really hot. But nothing is said about it. It's always Diaby this, Denilson that because they are easier targets to criticise. Clichy's form has been woeful and he is being beaten just too many times for it just to be a small blip in form. It's beginning to look by and large terminal for him out there as the opposition will continue to target that side even more the more shaky performances Clichy puts in.

The team needs changes and then we will all be sweet and happy.

One of Toure or Gallas should be sold and a dominant CB brought in to replace one of the two.

Something needs to be done about the left back position. Wenger to find Sagna mk II at left back.

A top quality CM bought in to partner Cesc.

And that is it. Not a huge overhaul. Just three positions.

We have two good players at LB. Clichy is having a poor season but I'm sure he'll be back to his best.

IMO, We'll probably have another boring summer in terms of transfers. Maybe one new player.

only Gallas and perhaps RvP have come anywhere close to playing at their best this season, so I see Clichy as no different.

last season Clichy, Sagna, Cesc. Hleb, Flamini, Adebayor were all team of the season guys, this year we have none probably.

so to me it's basically a confidence thing, though it has taken AW long enough to try to get it back.

seems to me that Spurs throwaway caused a volcano, before that we were at least knocking the ball about nice, then added to that losing Cesc.

I think our under-performing players and that is really most of the team should be judged towards the end, Arshavin and the other players coming back we should really see big improvements.

The georgeman concurs. I read the match thread and couldn't understand the level of criticism Diaby was getting from some. It wasn't his best game, but the whole team was dire in the first 45. He improved in the second half and the team went on to win the match. I have been enjoying Song's recent prformances I should add.
