A Tribute To Besiktas Legends

These are the photos of the most respected and revered Besiktas players throughout our glorious history.
As Besiktas fans we should all remember them, their efforts, and how they helped make this team what it is today.

THese legends paved the way for a team which holds values, customs and tradition above anything else. Besiktas is not just a sports club, it's a family tradition and a way of life. Besiktas is a source of inspiration, proof of the fact that regular everyday people DO succeed (not just the filthy rich), evidence that a team upholding values, customs and traditions does have a place in a world clustered with unethical clubs.

Every Besiktas player is a Besiktasli for LIFE, and they hold a special place in the hearts of All Besiktas fans. We look forward to a bright future, but should never forget the legendary people who made the great Besiktas tradition possible.

Respect to the greats!

MEHMET SAMIL BEY

Although Hüseyin Bereket Bey and Mehmet Samil Bey deserve the credit for the creation of the Black & White colors of Besiktas JK, it would only be fitting to briefly discuss the father of these two brothers by the name of Osman Ferit Pasha.

During the times of Abdulhamit 2nd, Osman Ferit Pasha was the appointed "Guardian of Medina" for a long period of time. He was also a famous Turkish commander in battles, known for his courage and agressiveness while in command.

Because of his combat skills, at the age of 20 he joined the armed services. Later, while he was serving as superintendent, he was exiled to Trablusgarb, Libya, but after a short time, he was made General and was appointed to the position of chief commander of the "Taskisla" military barracks. In 1888, he was appointed as the "Guardian of Medina."

While in Hicaz for a period of 15 years, he became famous by playing a major role in crushing numerous Arabic uprisings and revolts. A remarkable commander, as well as an expert combat soldier, Osman Ferit Pasha carefully kept his two sons involved in sports.

Had it not been for the attempt to form a club at the Osman Pasha House in the area of Serencebey by these two sons who loved sports at a time when people possessed limited vision and understanding about athletics, chances are BESIKTAS Club would not have been in existence today.

In their dad's home, these two sports-oriented sons of a sports-oriented father gave root to what was later to become the legendary BESIKTAS JK.

Great thread...I remember Feyyaz playing for the national team in the 80s...

Btw, I would mention my fav Besiktas player: ERTUGRUL

#12 ·
Ertugrul was my favorite player too,He did deserve to have much better accomplishment, but stupid jack asses Denizli and Toshack used him wrongly, especially Denizli didn't call him for NT when he was at the peak of his form...

Hey lets not forget Sukru Gulesin. Famous for scoring goals directly from the corner kick.

First Ever Turkish Export. Played for Lazio and scored the goal against Roma that kept Lazio from getting relegated... Guess how? Directly from a corner kick :)

Well here is the story ...
Im football fan, and of course i watched the WC Korea Japan ... my daughters fall in love with Ilhan so started to look in internet abt him.
At the same time i met, for my work, a turkish man and once i told him i like football and he told me abt his team: Besiktas.
He started to talk to me abt it and send news to my daughter .... then we became supporter.
After some time ... my destiny made me met another besiktasli who invited me to join www.blackeagles.org and there i learn how to love Besiktas and i became a real carsi.
I always wished to visit Turkey, my dream was watch Bosphorous ... now my dream is watch a Besiktas game in Inonu.

Wow Cacique that's quite the story, it's nice to hear how you found out about Besiktas :)
I see Jo-Ann has been upto no good as well...
Nice to see her doing some recruiting for Xtratime :D

I was at Inonu just in March and I watched a game...It was tons of fun because even though it was an unimportant game and even though Besiktas had almost no goals left in the league, the stadium was still packed and the fans chanted non stop. You should see Besiktas downtown on match day-everyone is dressed in black and white, people get together at a historic bar called 'kazan' where they discuss besiktas politics and the game, then they move on and walk towards the stadium.

And that flag really is amazing, winning the championship during our 100th year anniversary was something special
