Kid will be better than Shearer and Ronaldo combined, just you wait.

I think people forget first how young Theo is and secondly that very few players his age take the PL by storm esp at top clubs.

It's one thing to shine at 17 for Wigan or WBA but an entirely different story at the likes of Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea. 17 year old kids are not going to start often at said clubs as usually they don't have enough quality to leap over the current crop of players. Even if they have the talent to excel one has to be careful not to put to much pressure on such young players as they can be both emotionally and physically immature i.e Anelka and Owen.

Those thinking Theo is just going to step in for Thierry Henry are having a laff. Theo will come off the bench and continue his learning curve, he has more than enough games to make an impact without having to deal with the pressure of being labelled "the next Henry".

I think he's got what it takes (to be a real star in the Prem, Messi is a different kettle of fish). Don't think next season will be his real breakthrough year though because I don't think Wenger will give him that much time

He proved it to me against Chelsea, in a final , in the biggest game of his career so far, he decided it was his time to step up, and thats what he did, they couldnt handle the kid, a full team chelsea didnt have a solution, and the funny thing is he was playing injured.

 100% Correct.

Even players like Rooney, Ronaldo, Messi were protected when they first came to big clubs and were expected to shine. Big Difference between being a good player at a bad division 1 club, and a premiership top club

Cesc did it. I think Theo is more than ready to take a more important role on this team. Wenger should give him the same confidence he had in Cesc. He's got pace and his skill can get better but I think if he plays the way he played against Chelsea then there's no problem with having him on a rotation with Bendtner and Adebayor.

This article suggests that holding him back can cause him to over cook and lose his chance. I agree with this. The only way he's going to learn is to get in there and play in premier league games. He shouldn't be given the responsibility that comes with being labeled the next Henry but he's got all the opportunity he needs to make us forget about him. I don't expect him to be as prolific as Henry but if he plays he'll get better and better until the season after next.

I really wish that Theo was fit for those last 8 or so games when Baptista was crap for us, I'm sure he would have made a great impact up-front.

Those who think we should sign Michael Owen should think again, because whilst he is not Thierry yet, Theo can offer us pace, clinincal finishing and an instinct for goal.

Last season he was our super sub, coming ion when we were chasing a game.

He needs to learn different ways of beatign defenders.

the game against Chelsea in the Carling Cup Final was hist best of the season.

Next season will be a big season for Walcott, but also for Diaby (his first injury free season) and Denilson.

he's still growing as a player, i think people should lay off the expectations, he's only 18. he's got a few years ahead of him till he starts to peak. right now we should just concentrate on training him and his technical side of him. Soon we'll have the next thierry henry.

looking at 2-3years in total for him to start peaking.

Walcott still needs to develop physically but give him time as he is going to be a star. He is one of the fastest players I have seen and he is technically great for his age he just needs to get over his injury problems, build himself up and start to take over games.

I don't tihnk next year will be his crunch year, maybe 2009 or 2010 would be more accurate

Wenger - Walcott knows this season is vital for him

By Richard Clarke

This is a big season for Theo Walcott, according to both Arsène Wenger and the player himself.

The 18-year-old has now made 35 appearances for Arsenal since he joined Arsenal from Southampton in a fanfare of publicity in January 2006. That only intensified the following summer when Walcott was chosen for the England World Cup squad without having played for his new club.

However the Under-21 winger has yet to command a regular place under Wenger outside the Carling Cup. When questioned before the weekend whether Walcott was ready to emerge now, his manager was supportive and yet cautious.

“Frankly I don’t know yet,” he replied. “I could say ‘yes’ or ‘no’. No because he is long enough in the game to have learned and yes because he is still young.

“He told me he knows it’s an important year for him.

“I studied the team who won the World Cup for France in 1998. They all started age 18.

“If you don’t get in the team at 18, 19, 20 doubts start. He’s at an age now where you expect him to exert his personality and turn up in big games. OK he will still look young on occasions but as well it is [time] to show that this guy can be a player.

“I think he will.”

we dont quite need him to step up at the moment.. but he will when he is ready

#25 ·
give him the FA cup games and Carling Cup and he'll show how good he is.

i think when he starts to pick up form or someone gets injured up front then he will start for us. but i honestly dont think this is his "peak year". where he starts to peak and show us all kinds of crazy things on the field.

he's still learning, give him a start now and then till he picks up great form imo

If one of Hleb or Roiscky then Walcott will force himself into the team.

He will not flop and Arsene will not let him, he will be nurtured into a world class player, but as with all youngsters, especially on the wing they fade in and out.
