Hello friends of the Liverpool forum. We are always up to the early hours debating the way Liverpool should play, who should be in our starting XI, what formation Brendan Rodgers should choose and who to sign in the next transfer window.

Let's now discuss 'How to beat Liverpool'.

This will highlight our team's current weaknesses, underline our tactical frustrations and clearly address the factors that are stopping us from being a competitive club.

I look forward to your contributions.

Reina isn't considered one of the best in his position, any longer.

So, more pressure on the goalkeeper, be it from balls into the box or long-range efforts. That's one way of perhaps finding a goal against Liverpool.

liverpool have been suffering against big EPL rivals. actually by the current team, any big european rival can beat liverpool easily such as Juve, Barca, Real Madrid, Atletico..etc

regarding to midtable teams, agree that Stoke's style always make troubles for the reds.

off the pitch, the arrogance and over-confidence of some liverpool fans harm the team alot. they keep praising the team while the team sometimes don't show progress in results.

Also, whenever Suarez has the ball in the area, blatantly foul him.

I find it amazing that we're considering Reina a soft spot!

If you just apply the above pics.. it has nothing to do with the GK.. We have this inability to break down stubborn defenses.. we've had this issue since the Rafa days.. but now it's even worse.. Cuz we simply revert to passing the ball about.. Sterling and Suarez fall a bit too easily.. and with Luis' attitude, any defender would take his chances that the ref won't give a foul..

Long balls are an issue.. simply cuz our defenders don't have the physical presence they should.. I think of Hyypia and Skrtel or Agger both look like thin chicken legs..

So I'm not worried about Reina.. it's breaking our defense that's the key.. We used to have the meanest defense in the EPL.. that was when we had Henchoz, Hyypia, Bjornbye and I can't recall who the right back was.. We still had a very solid defense with Hyypia, Carra, Arbeloa and Riise.. With Masch in front of them.. we were a tough nut to crack.. Now we're very fragile.. that's why I've been saying again and again that our defense needs sorting out..

Our defence is much more exposed also because our full-backs are playing almost as wingers a lot of the time. You can't expect to have as solid defence when your tactics is to push as many players as possible forward, which leaves a lot of gaps in defence. It's either this or more defensive full-backs whose main priority is to defend, not attack (that's why Woy didn't like Johnson). But you can't have both, what can help in this case is keeping possession and getting the ball backs asap when it's lost. Or at least to stop counter-attacks, so the full-backs and midfielders are able to return to the defence in the mean-time. That's one of the reasons why keeping possession, sometimes playing very simple balls only to keep possession, is so important in Rodgers's tactics.

How to beat Liverpool? Not hard when they have American owners obsessed with brand and PR over putting out a winning team and a rookie manager with the dogmatic idealism most people abandoned on reaching adulthood. Any Championship level tactics will do.

That Shemmy post is so true. Lukakku, Benteke, L.Traore, K.Jones, Carlton Cole, Welbeck, Oldham's Smith + entire Stoke team. They've all had a field day against us. I hope we either learn to deal with physicality or get someone in who can.

Arsenal/Man U probably the only games we haven't lost coz we've been beasted.

For a guy who's put over as a 'hard man' Skrtel doesn't cope with the physical battle as he should. Certainly he's the least of our worries if it comes down to it, but I'm not buying the hype. Too many times I've seen him bullied off the ball and beaten in the air. Sami Hyppia never would have lost those aerial duels in his prime and he was a lot stronger too. I miss him.

It always seems to me like he has a problem with his balance? The guy is always leaning over when defending this season...it's a lot easier to get out muscled from that position.

Hyypia has been a far better defender than Skrtel. He was much more consistent and solid. Having said that, Skrtel is not at his best now. His form has been poor. The entire last season, he made only one defensive error and was one of the best players in our squad, but this season he has already made 5 defensive errors in the league that led to shot or goal. Needs to get his authority and confidence back.
