Real Madrid have better individuals in most positions but Barcelona are a better team :eek::eek:. The Catalans are on a mission and Messi :proud: is on fire; the team is on a roll. A 10-pt deficit in early-March is not impossible to overcome, but it will be difficult, nonetheless :scared::scared::scared:. Every true RM fan :proud: knows that we have no chance against them at the Camp Nou :yuck:, so in reality; the 10pt lead is only a 7pt lead. Is la liga race over? Will Barca overcome this deficit?

WHAT SAY YOU?
Your thoughts…your thoughts…

You'd think it matters at least something...perhaps that one point lead in May is a little bit easier to achieve when you have a ten point lead in March.

Ten point leads have been known to vanish, but given the fact that Madrid have won all but three (!) of their games so far, it's extremely unlikely. Ok, let's say they lose at Camp Nou. It's seven points. So for the other 11 games, Madrid must lose points in at least three and Barca win all. Takes a major turn in fortunes, that's for sure...

Madrid's got this one in the bag. The question is, can they beat Barca to give the title that required extra shine?

come again?

As to your question, I think the points lead is almost insurmountable. RM simply doesn't look like dropping points, even when they play badly. Barça seem to drop points when they do play badly.

Still Barca is obviously the better team, as their head-to-head encounters with RM would suggest. This would be a case for the argument that leagues are not always won by the best team, only the most consistent.

I don't agree. Leagues are won by the best team. If Real have 10 points more than Barca, it's because they've been better. The competition isn't about winning head-to-head encounters but about winning most points. If we were talking about a competition like UCL, of course, it would be another matter, but in La Liga Real Madrid are the ones to beat a.k.a. the better team.

If you are far from being competitive against a side when you play them, you cannot consider yourself as its superior.

RM have no answer for Barcelona and haven't had it for seasons. It just happens that Barcelona hasn't been able to be at their imperious best as often this year, giving RM a chance to cash in.

So you consider to be the better team that which has a better head-to-head record against one particular side but a worse record against all other sides in the league. Cannot say I agree.
Not in isolation. I would put money on Barcelona beating RM every time they play, as would most reasonable punters. Barcelona must be the better team given this.

For a cup format, where it's necessary to be able to rise to the occasion and beat your biggest rivals in head-to-head meetings, yes, but not for a league.

In order to be considered "the better team" in any given league, you need to be on top every week, and Barca haven't been so this season which is why they're currently 2nd best.

If Barcelona demolishes RM every time they meet, regardless of the label of the competition, they're the better team period!

I won't lie.. If we lose the next Clasico it will make the celebrations of the league a bit bitter.

For me anyway.
