Number 16 or safe at 15th - relegation play-off battle

At the winterbreak it looked all certain. VVV, De Graafschap and Excelsior looked the 3 teams at the bottom that would decide who's going to relegate and which team would play the play-offs to stay in, but then mighty Ton came in at VVV (and a few players) and all things changed. Even a side like Groningen could still be in trouble if they continue their poor form. Only 7 points ahead.

Lol, I see now that NEC's defense is just as good/bad as the one from PSV and just one worse than our defense. RKC, Heracles and NAC also aren't doing much worse.

I fancy ADO for the 16th spot. They've been poor all season, only been getting draws when getting points and have 3 of the top 6 in their remaining 5 home games.

Not related but Peter Bosz's appearance is amusing me. Looks like a figure from a comic book with his shaven head and thick glasses, especially when he gets wound up.

I told you guys NEC defense is pretty good. The CB pairing Nuytinck, Van Eijden is one of the better CB pairings in the eredivisie beter than Heerenveen's, Groningen's. The problem with NEC is that they lack firepower. George is an hot and cold striker while Zeefuik hasnt scored one goal in 24 games:scared:. Only Excelsior and De Graafschap have scored less which should definitly say something. I've seen NEC lose games where they have been the better side during the whole 90 minutes for example against Roda(1-0) and Vitesse at home (1-0) but just couldnt produce anything up front. Its a shame the financial position is so bad otherwise they could have hold on to Vleminx, who isnt the greatest forward but he could at least put the ball in the net. Im pretty sure NEC would have played for a top 9 spot if he had stayed. Right now I'd say they will end around 13th spot. To bad they couldnt win against Utrecht.

Im going for ADO with Graafsvchap 17 and Excelsior 18.

Because 7 points is still doable. Although normally you should stay safe with 30+ points.

The culthero before Vleminckx.

NEC have had some of them. Zico Tumba and Rene Van Rijswijk being among my favourites.

The current team is a bit colourless.

In the other thread i said it was going to be either VVV or NAC so im going to stick by that but would rather see RKC there than any other team.

Pothuizen definitly is an icon more so than Niedzilan I'd say

.

As for RKC Í rather see them at 16 or 17 as well, I feel like the other clubs on this list are more eredivisieworthy than RKC or Excelsior.

Hehe Potje was multifunctional I remember him comming on in the latter stages of the game as a striker/breekram and he knew how to score goals in those situations

The problem with RKC is that the same thing is going to happen to them as with Excelsior.

They currently have Zoet, Castillon, Ten Voorde and Aussar on loan, which they very may well lose to their parent clubs next season. Meijers has already left to ADO in the summer and then their better players like Sno etc will probably move on as well.

Currently they are an Eredivisie standard team but they are not a Eredivisie standard club if that makes sense. Same applies to Excelsior obviously and thats why i want to see teams like Sparta in their place.

To be fair, we've been saying this for a while about clubs like Excelsior, RKC and Volendam versus Cambuur and Sparta which have greater potential in theory... but how come the former keep promoting and the latter just keep falling?

Excelsior has had the luck of getting some decent Feyenoorders and Fries on loan in their good years, RKC the same now (and they have had decent squads in the past as well with the likes of Greene, Boulahrouz, Decheiver, Bosz, van Hintum, etc.) Volendam is the real jojo. Sometimes too good for the first division, but not good enough for the Eredivisie the season after.

Cambuur has indeed been away for a long time now. The last time they were in they still midget De Ron in goal.

Sparta got screwed the last time by De Mos, because otherwise I think they still would have been in. Had some decent players of course.

I think its party due to the fact that bigger clubs such as Sparta and Willem are stubborn and dont make the right choices in taking players and/or manager because they are simply Sparta, Willem etc. and they will get promoted straight away.

Teams like RKC and Excelsior on the other hand bring in a lot of promising players on loan and also arnt afraid to give guys a shot who have failed previously in the Eredivisie. Plus i think the expectations also come into play, your less under pressure and can therefore perform better (arguably) if you play for one of the lesser clubs.

A lot said above by you chivu and white rabbit is true.

Sparta basically got a nutcase in charge in Aad de Mos
Willem II got in a lot of really poor players (George Mourad)

while Volendam, last time they got promoted, pretty much didn't bother to strengthen their side

thinking that it'd be pointless to make a debt in order to stay there. They also didn't get anyone decent on loan. No hopers if they did get some folks in.
