even though it did not result in an injury, that Henry guy on Wolves made another horror tackle :yuck:
Yeah, when you see the tackled guy almost making a 360 degree flip in the air because of it, then you know what force he was hit with.

De Jong is a witless thug. Appartently this is a second time he breaks someone leg. Between that he tries karate kicks.

De Jong has been dropped from the Holland squad :howler: van Marwiijk has a problem with how De Jong plays. Funny that he still made van Bommel his captain. Fine by me, he'll be fresher for City, and they can do without one of the best DMs there is.

Look again, he went for the ball, got it with his left leg and unluckily hit Ben Arfa's left leg with his right which caused Ben Arfa to fall. He didn't miss the ball. Get your facts straight.
See, thats where I disagree. If youre going to go in THAT hard its not unlucky that you take the guys leg out- EVEN IF you get the ball. It doesnt really matter if you get the ball from behind- you're always going to take the man down.

NIGEL DE Jong has been axed from the Holland squad following his shocking tackle on Hatem Ben Arfa.

Van Marwijk had already discussed De Jong´s behaviour on the field a number of times, following harsh tackles and reckless fouls.

Van Marwijk: "I’ve just informed the squad and told them I had no other options. I will see Nigel shortly and talk to him. For now, the focus will be on two crucial qualifying games."

Van Marwijk said earlier in the Algemeen Dagblad newspaper: "I've seen the pictures back. It was a wild and unnecessary offence. He went in much too hard."

"It is unfortunate, especially since he does not need to do it.

Meanwhile De Jong has also came under fire in Holland in the media.

Sparta Rotterdam boss Jan Everse declared: "He needs to see a mental doctor."

And TV pundit Hugo Vorst said: "De Jong is a criminal who needs to be dragged out of football."

De Jong is a freaking dirty prick and it was only a matter of time before one of his "tackles" resulted in somebody getting hurt. I still cant believe he got away with that kung fu kick to the chest on Alonso in the world cup final.

I don't know what to think about that tackle... looks bad, but I am unsure that he really wants to break the leg, as much as he tackles hard.

At the end, the ball is there and he seems to go for the ball... maybe he just took Ben Arfa's leg in a bad position. Sometimes these things happen. At least, I am not 100% sure in this case.

Still, some players tackled without the ball in sight and I believe this is a fact that should be adressed. When a player tackles another one without the ball near the action, the punishments should be really high, because there you have a player actually willing to injure a rival and that's the worst thing of all. The recent tackle of Ujfalusi on Messi, with the ball like 1 mt away, is something that can not happen. But I can think of others... Salgado on Juninho, Taylor on Eduardo, some of Materazzi...

In the olden days, when someone got their leg broken, they'd just tear it off at the knee and use it to beat the shit out of whoever caused the break.

Now we've got supposed professional athletes getting hurt, breaking nails and spraining their hair, when falling to the ground while taking a dive.

It's a disgrace.

Like I said elsewhere, if someone's not bleeding and missing a few teeth by the end of the game, it ain't a sport.

If you don't want contact, play golf on your Xbox. But be forewarned, you might get carpal tunnel, and we wouldn't want that, now would we?

To be fair to De Jong in this instance, he didn't make a two footed lunge, and he made contact with the ball first. His problem is he puts unnecessary force into his challenges. It's the trailing leg that catches Ben Arfa, but the impact even with the trailing leg is pretty big.

De Jong in 2010.

Prick. 3 dangerous tackles, 2 injuries inflicted.

WTF? That's a normal tackle, he flicks his foot to take the ball as you normally would. He doesn't go in studs up or at knee height. What is your flaming vendetta? Holden overruns it and he attempts to take the ball.

I can't believe De Jong's tackle has created more of a furore than Karl Henry's. Henry may not have broken a leg, but his was way more violent.

Aawww, so cute.

Anyhow its 3 more months of football in 2010. Statistically speaking, De Jong has one more in him.

The problem is that the guy is slowly developing a trackrecord of injurying opponents. And though the tackles are borderline fair, their also 100% reckless - get the ball, get the player, who cares.
