Yes...this is a very good draw for us.

But dont underestimate the Croatians. The Croatians may be useful for a tie, but we may use them to get pass the Greeks who we have trouble with. In all cases, we need to focus soley on the game..no mistakes need to be made...we need the 6 points in both Latvia and Georgia and no fumbling Malta like in 2004 qualifiers.

IMHO opinion this is the same group as the 2010 WC. the only difference is Croatia and the add on to Georgia. We have played Georgia before and we are better than they are, but they have few good players..especially those gruzini's who play in our League.

very good draw!
Historically they have played very well against Croatia. Also, this isnt the same Croatia from the Euro 2008 qualifiers.
Im glad we got Greece & Latvia, we have another chance to set the record straight!!

I wanna tear and rip Latvia to shreds :fero:

Good draw always comparing with what we could have get. From the Pot 1 the best draws were Russia and Croatia and we got the latter.

Maybe Croatia isn´t at their best moment, but they are always tough to beat. But we have a chance. Greece is the same thing, at Ramat Gan we were better than them, in Crete we played defensively and payed the price, but we have seen we could win. Against Latvia it is our chance to show that we are better.

Now what we need is a new coach. Luzon stop playing around:mad:

:D BRING IN SHUM!

or Berkovic :)

would have been cool if we got the Croatian coach. He would have known the ins and outs of his former beloved NT

2 things worry me about this draw.

1. scheduling. Greece and Latvia were unable to agree on schedule for WC10 qualification. There is little to believe it will happen this time around. Luzon is a moron and will mess this up. We are going to have terrible scheduling.
2. Both Latvia and Georgia are hard working type sides that are going to give us trouble. for us to have any shot as qualifying, we have to take 18 points from Latvia, Georgia & Malta.

If we can get proper coaching, we have the talent to be able to win this group. That is a HUGE if.

At the back of my head, I had the idea of having bad scheduling like last time. I was putting everything on paper. What would everyone like and what is the the best and worst case scenario for Israel. Speaking of which we had almost everyone in our group before in the past 10 years in a qualifying tournament except for Georgia. Malta (Euro 2004), Croatia (Euro 2008), Greece (WC 2010), Latvia (WC 2010).

I am hoping that the first 2 games would be against Croatia and Greece at home. Get rid of them first. I dont want to play Greece in Mid 2011 when they reformed their NT structure and they are in their height. I also dont want to play them in Crete.

I think Scheduling problem was never Greece's fault. They were open as the Swiss were. It was Moldova, followed by Latvia who initiated the walkouts and the arguments that led to a new scheduling agreement. So i do hope that Luzon thinks of the NT before he lets another opportunity get away from us.

As for Georgia and Lativa being a well suited NT and hard working...

Let me just talk more about Georgia than Latvia, cause we saw and undestimated them before.

For the Georgians, they have played us about 3-4 times...2 wins, 2 ties and a loss i believe for Israel.... Not bad..but all friendlies and all were more than 8 years ago or so....
Georgia is possibly one of the only places in Europe (UEFA wise) that has so many NT players in the Israeli League.... maybe we are a tad better than they are.

Afterall, in the last campaign Georgia came last in their group.... even behind Mighty Cyprus and newbies Montenegro.

Latvia I am worried about. Then again, some teams have a high like Luxembourg did and now they saw that 150% work leads to nothing to there might be reshuffling going on...

In 2011, Yom Kippur falls on a potential date for the game!!!!!!!!!!

WATCH THE LATVIANS EXPLOIT THIS OPPORTUNITY!!!!!!

I am fairly certain it was greece and latvia (wikipedia agreed with me http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_FIFA_World_Cup_qualification_–_UEFA_Group_2 )

I can already tell you that our FA will mess up the scheduling. This is a lock. I have to agree with you Kappa, playing the big guns early with less pressure makes sense. However, I would love to start out the campaign with Latvia at home. If we can not win that game, we already will know we have no shot. We could then play the youngsters to prep them for WC 2014 qualifications.

for the gamblers, we are considered rank outsiders, trading between 6 and 8 to 1 to win our group. (http://euro-betting.oddschecker.com/euro-2012/euro-2012-group-f/win-market)

More telling is that Croatia is approximately even money, and Greece is approximately 3-2. meaning most of the world thinks we have no chance. Luckily for us, that is when we do out most damage. :)

IMO it would be good if we are considered outsiders. We will take a lot of pressure from our shoulders. Luzon commited a silly mistake right after the WC 2010 draw saying that Israel would qualify putting unnecessary pressure on everyone involved.

This time, he is under pressure, he needs to decide a decent coach and if Israel fails to make some impact in this campaign he will be out.

The scheduling could be important, but above all if we want to qualify we need to win at home against Croatia and Greece otherwise we could stop dreaming. And from last qualifiers we have seen we could do it and could win in Ramat Gan.

Georgia has many players in Israel, but if their main striker is Dvalishvili than we could handle him down.:D

If Dvalishvili shines against Israel and makes us lose points.... M. Haifa fans will suffer for years to come

Scheduling is key.... I dont want to play Back to Back games..unless its malta. We need to play Greece early. We do that and we will be gold!

I would prefer to play Greece late. They are an aging team. Let them age a bit more. If I could, I'd schedule the Greeks for March at home and October away.

A year and a half from now, the Greek team will be a shell of its former self.

Yea...good call..

I would however like to play Greece first. They seem to be over resilient coming to the WC and then down and stubborn leaving the WC. I hope to try and get some points of from that and eventually play them in September of 2011....fresh season and what not...but Israel would act the same and try and play it down as well.....:righton:

I would also prefer to play Greece first they would be in transition, the Rehaguel situation is not settled. BUT, don´t forget we are also through transition. We will change coaches, we still need to gel up. So it would also be dangerous to play the stronger teams first while we are still starting with a new coach.

I prefer to play the weak teams first. It gets the team gelled together where it's almost like practice. It also gets the team confidence. Having that 7-0 win against Lux come a year earlier could've been the necessary boost for the team.

I want the Greeks left to the end when they are extra-old.

I dont know how a year and a half will make Greek players anything older.....if any..angrier......
