Major Africa covers all 48 nations in Africa Continent. Zaire was first black African team to qualify for World Cup in 1974 before African players started well-known in the worldwide after then. The earlier era before the world war II, Africa football is restricted in their country so nobody could really know who and how many great players were available. But still, There are so many lost Major African players since the 1940s. Fernando Peyroteo was transferred to be Portuguese before Eusebio and Mario Coluna did it in the 1960s. Until the current era, African players have popularity moved to France since they was young and becoming French players for so many such as Marcel Desailly, Patrice Vieira or Jean Tigana. This reason effects to the lower level of players in this team. However, African football is still not reach their greatest point, Perhaps some of them could reach semi-final in the first World Cup in Africa in this year. If the time would have passing for decades, I positive that there would be a lot more great players to include in this team for sure.

Explanation of Formation

Thomas N’Kono stand as Goalkeeper. Lauren Bisan Etame is responsible as right-wing-back and Babayaro is left-wing-back because this formation is without winger. Kuffour and Younger Toure is a partnership as center-back. Essien is selected as destroyer and also a captain. Osei Kofi is one of the hidden supeb legends. He is deserved to be a starter as right-midfielder together with Abedi Pele who possessed the great left-foot. Saif Keita-George Weah- Samuel Eto'o would be the dangerous Tri-O. Keita played as second striker behind two strikers.

Roger Milla should be in the first XI IMO.

Also you seem to have missed Patrick Mboma and Mulamba Ndaye from the strikers. Jacques Songo'o deserves a mention in the goalkeepers.

Also I can see why you have left out North Africa, but it would also be interesting to see a combined team. Are you planning a North African squad too? :)

No North Africans?

Considering the North Africans slay the rest of Africa on a regular basis in the Nations Cup would have thought that a couple would have made the list.

Eboue and Babayaro? mmm.

Babayaro was important for Nigeria around 98-2002. Eboue I think is not a good choice. Geremi (he can play RB) would be better, he has over 100 caps for Cameroon.

Arab list coming up?
Otherwise players like Naybet and co would surely be on it.

That said, if you make an Arab list, you'll also be taking a chunk away from Asia albeit smallish one as Iranian, Korean and Japanese footballers tend to be the better ones in Asia.

Roger Milla is a kind of Paulo Rossi. He was a top African legend due to his greatness in World Cup 1990 only. His performance in club career had nothing to appreciate. Keita is a hidden legend from Mali. He was regarded as one of the most talent African players of all-time.

Geremi didn't play RB for his majority career. Eboue was great as RB but he was fali as winger.

Well said about the omission of North African footballers.

And nice work again, Dearman.

But about the players you've included, Dearman, why didn't you do a write-up about Rashidi Yekini? Definitely belongs in a formation.

as usual an interesting read but

just wondering, what made you put Salomon Kalou and Obafemi Martins above Freddy Kanoute? Even Adebayor's position so high is questionable as he wasn't that great at Arsenal.

Justice for Freddy :D

You are really right. Kanoute won South African footballer of the year while Kalou and Martins still have to prove himself.

Adebayor seems to be equal as Yeboah.

Well the heading did say all time Africa squad but he has said that he will do a separate North African one which is fair enough.

There is a tendency though to just look at the West Africans when talking about African football. The North Africans record in the Nations Cup would suggest this shouldn't be the case though really.

True, Sub-Saharan African squad I guess would be completely accurate.

If you don't mind, Dearman, I'll change it to that.

It is sad to see that development of these players is why these lists are so weak. For example, the French Africans of the 90s/2000s all would easily be top 10. Anyway nice work again.

If Milla was so good, why was he usually a reserve for clubs such as Valenciennes or playing out in Reunion?

He was exceptional for the NT, and Dearman has generally been rating those performances over the club performances.

North Africa would be next thread. Middle East is another ARAB to be done as well.
Those three overlap; if you take North Africa separately then Arab will only be the Arabian peninsula plus Iraq, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon. Then from the whole middle east only Iran and Afghanistan will remain

Anyways those are political and cultural entities, I don't see why you don't go with confederations that is continents. It is easier to compare a player from say Algeria to one from Nigeria because they have played against each other and against the same rivals, while it is not as easy to compare one from Algeria to another one from say Saudi Arabia.

Just my two cents...
