Well, the shul I went to when I was there had a South African Rabbi, a South African chazzan, and 80% of the congregation were South African. Of course, there are a lot more Americans, English, Canadians etc in Ra'anana, but the area I was staying in was definitely a mini South Africa. In any case, Ra'anana must have the highest concentration of English speakers in Israel?

As for Apartheid, well it actually wasn't good for Israel since now all the anti-Israel idiots have a nice word to describe Israel's so-called 'atrocities'. The term 'Israeli Apartheid' really pisses me off, and is in fact an insult to the people who suffered under the real Apartheid in South Africa.

Good to hear. I was very pleased when they got promoted. Do they have any notable players?
Well, despite their loss to Maccabi Haifa today i see Raanana as a team that isn´t among the two worst and they haven´t played so badly to be considered a serious candidate IMO, even though they aren´t far away from it. But my guess is that they will stay in top flight.

Hapoel Raanana plays their home games at Kfar Saba since their stadium is too small according to IFA rules to host Ligat Ha´Al games. Regarding the players they have some intresting ones like French Jewish midfielder Steven Cohen who has called attention of bigger teams and we might se him in a bigger club next season, especially because he doesn´t get a foreign spot.
Another well known player in at Raanana is veteran keeper Shaul Smadja, good one for the league level IMO. There is also forward Avi Knafo who was from the Hapoel Tel Aviv youth system and recently they signed two players who are capped for the Lithuanian NT. But in small words there aren´t IMO any players that you say is very promising and that will develop into a great player. Maybe Steven Cohen has a potential for it.

It was over 2 and a half years ago, so needless to say, I can't remember. :D

Anyway, maybe I should start a Hapoel Ra'anana thread. Adom Oleh!
Ok never mind! Thanks for answering anyways:thumbsup:

Well you are welcomed to start a Hapoel Raanana thread. If we have a Bnei Eilat thread why not:D

Or we could create a thread like "Minor clubs thread" or Other clubs thread".

Hey JD, you could already have your reward. Your new adopted club, Hapoel Raanana could win a title soon. They beat Maccabi Haifa today 3-2 and advanced to the Toto Cup final to play against Beitar Jerusalem.
Maybe you are their lucky man:D

:D RAANANA...thank you :)

Now time to finish you guys off  :wth: :D

When is the Toto Cup final?

May?

That's crazy. Looks like I might have to take more of an interest in them now. Maybe when I go to Israel (probably only in December though) I'll go watch a couple of their games.

Incidentally, I thought Shaul Smadja had stopped playing years ago. The guy must be pretty old by now no? I'm friends with a cousin of his. :)

He is 37 years old. He is indeed one of the veteran players in LIgat Ha´Al today, but IMO he is a good keeper, maybe not NT material, but for Israeli league he is a pretty reliable player.

Hope when you visit Israel in December you could watch some of their games at their home stadium and not moving to Kfar Saba to watch them.

Updating Bnei EIlat´s situation, the club still stands comfortably in first position with 51 points in 20 games, tweleve points ahead of second place Ironi Ramle.

Guess we could consider in LIga Alef next season unless something disastrous happens.

I am not sure if there is playoffs in Liga Bet, but anyways Bnei Eilat are very comfortable in first place with 66 points and 18 above second place Ironi Ramle that has 48.

Guess we could certain that Bnei Eilat will be in Liga Alef next season.

Remember that Liga Bet is divided in four leagues:

Liga Bet North A
Liga Bet North B
Liga Bet South A
Liga Bet South B

Eilat is in the last league. Only the champions from each one of them goes to Liga Alef (where there will be Liga Alef North and Liga Alef South). The other team that apparently will figure in Liga Alef next season is Maccabi Kabilio Yaffo.

Yeah! let the celebrations begin, and Bnei Eilat proved that they are a level above any other team in Liga Bet, but I think, it's going to be a lot harder in Liga Alef, I am confident that Bnei Eilat will not relegate though.

Indeed much harder. But they were a level above like you say and last sesaon they had a mid table finish right? Guess there might be a type of investor in the team?

Just to revive a bit the thread and remember that Bnei Eilat are in LIga Alef South which gives the first place the right to play in next season Liga Leumit.

This season Liga Alef is very desputed and interesting, currently we have Hapoel Jerusalem, Maccabi Kabilio Yaffo and Maccabi Kiriat Malachi all with 20 points each, Bnei Eilat comes close in seventh place with 16 points. Should be very tight the dispute and with no kizuz.

well i found some interesting stuff i think none of us have seen before...

the Bnei Eilat logo...(i would change the ball for something else, but it looks better than most logos in Israel)

the Eilat "stadium" or should i call it stand...with an amazing capacity of 1,000 people..!!!

and a game from last month against Maccabi Jaffa, wich Eilat lost, i guess the players are crying cause they might have been promoted to Liga Leumit if they would have won it, also its a home game so u can see the "stadium" a bit more....anyways impressive campaign for them, first season in Liga Alef and almost got promoted..! :)
