Very tough place to play, a draw is not a bad result but must surely be disheartening after being up 2-0 with 45 minutes to go.

True what you had said... Derlei had his faults, but he still offered more than this horrendous Caicedo. The guy is just so akward and immobile out there.

I can't believe in what I'm reading...you defending Derlei?!? :eekani: :googly:

Now, seriously, I don't believe that this is all that Caicedo is worth but the problem is that we are in such a state that we just can't afford these "adaptation periods" that players very often need to pass through.

Honestly, why did you sign Caicedo of all players in the world? He's completely useless, never scored double figures in his entire career in Europe (not even in Switzerland  ).

He's on loan from Manchester City, and Sporting surely will not pay the 11 M Euro fixed fee to buy him at the end of the loan.

It's similar to why in the world did you guys sign Keirrison on loan too? That guy stinks. :pp

Yes but we have further options. ;) I know he's on loan, but I would've kept Derlei instead of loaning Caicedo. Paulo Bento admited yesterday that not extending Derlei's contract might have been a mistake.

It's very easy to talk after. This is a guy that played at one of the top half EPL clubs and that is a regular in a not that bad NT so it's not as if we took a shot in the dark but, as Josh said, sometimes you just miss it, like Benfica did with Keirrison, which is in my view an even bigger disappointment than Caicedo.

The Derlei situation is very clear and PB, on the contrary to what he was quoted saying, did not say in the interview that it was a mistake not to keep him. What he said was that it was a big loss not to have him this season but, having in mind the standards that the club set in financial terms, Sporting could not give him what he was asking for.

Derlei was greedy, which was bad for us and also bad for him because he ended up going to VitĂłria, a mid-table team in Brazil's Serie A, where he practically did not have any playing time.

Just to clear things up:

Benfica does not depend on K11 nor did they pay the 14Mil Euros for him, he's also very young and can get used to playing football in Europe, Caicedo on the other hand is older and done.
Just to really clear things up:

Sporting did not pay one cent for Caicedo and we certainly do not depend on him. Caicedo is three months older than Keirrison and he was not announced in our press as the impersonated mixture of Romário and Bebeto. :howler:

What i don't understand is why our rivals are having bad games against the "easy" teams that we blew out in the begining of the season.
Anyway
Rio Ave (you didnt play) Maritimo (tied 1-1 at home) Guimaraes (won 1-0 with a 90 min free kick)

Good observation:thumbsup:

we wont have a league match for a while, international break (WC playoffS), then taca de portugal matches, and then I think we are playing an exhibition match against some team from Colombia or Argentina.

You could've known it before, I reckon. The guy scored 11 goals in 44 games for Basel, a dominationg side in Switzerland. That's close to nothing.
As for the Keirrison comparisons, I didn't ask for them and won't compete in the debate about whom of both being the bigger disappointment and why, since this is the Sporting forum and I wanted to talk about Caicedo.
My opinion remains that Caicedo is rather useless and Sporting better field Saleiro next to Liedson.

K11 belongs to Barcelona, just like Cai-cedo belongs to Man City.
I don't control the media so that can call him a better version of Pele for all i care, fact of the matter is that we're in first place, FACT.

u guys are very late regarding this caicedo vs keirrisson conversation, i've told u that they both suck ages ago:D

sporting takes the cake though....how on earth does anyone hire a player called Caicedo ?:D

was Levantatarde already taken? :howler:

Sporting didn't get Caicedo on loan from Basel, we did it from Man City.
Until now, I agree that he has been rather useless but so was Keirrison, as once again it was proved yesterday.

Saleiro may have showed a more active presence than Caicedo so far (not that hard to do that!) but I don't think he has enough quality to be part of our squad.

Finishing sentences with the word FACT is the best way to show that you aren't really sure of what you're talking about. Don't do it please, it makes you look really clueless and I think you know better than that.
