I guess everyone is waiting for HJK to secure a striker or two...

Which players will actually play for FC Jokerit this season?

Just read about another transfer. VPS Vaasa striker Keijo Huusko will sign for Swedish side BK Häcken on monday.

VPS have announced that they have a replacement player that will sign as soon as Huusko puts his name on the contract at Häcken. This "mister-X" is a player in the Veikkausliiga currently under contract. Who might this player be? Maybe KuPS's Kohonen who's been training with them?

Hmm.. You haven't got Atlantis in that list but Jokerit instead. It will be interesting to see what happens. If Atlantis goes to bankrupcy there is definetely going to be a lot of transfers. They have signed at least Ilpo Verno from HJK and Kimmo Tauriainen is probably going to Norway (was it to Start?)

This season will be a big chance for Finland and Finnish players to better their reputation in Sweden. The majority of Finnish players have flopped in Sweden the last years (Kottila, Hietanen, Saastamoinen, Suominen)

Of course there been some successes (Grönlund and Rantanen) but they've been few to say the least.

This season so far these clubs have Finnish players:

DjurgĂĄrden
Jesper Johansson

GIF Sundsvall
Marko Tuomela

Hammarby IF
Antti Pohja (new from Tampere United)

IFK Norrköping
Jani Sarajärvi (new from VPS Vaasa)

Kalmar FF
Vesa Vasara (new from FC Jokerit)

Malmö FF
Jussi Nuorela (likely to sign from MyPa)

Ă–rebro SK
Fredrik Nordback

If these new players prove to be good signings, the Finnish market will become far more interesting for Swedish sides. This should bring some good money to the Finnish clubs. Of course it's a shame that so many good players leave for free at the moment, but hopefully it will bring money in the long term.

Daniel Sjölund joins D.I.F.

One of Finnish football's most promising youngsters, Daniel Sjölund has left the Liverpool reserves for Swedish champions, Djurgården. Kim Källström may be moving in the opposite direction as Liverpool has shown interest in the promising young Swede.

If Källström don´t go to another club can´t Själund count with so much playtime. First he most do some good games as a substitute. Magnus Pehrsson, Kim Källstrom and Andreas Johansson will be a hard midfield to take place in. But Magnus Pehrsson is very frequently injured..

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Sjölund was bought as a replacement for Elmander, and if he shows that he's good enuff, which I don't have any doubt in, he'll be playing alongside with Vovven this season :excited:

I also think it's really great to see finnish football develop so quick, and it's nice that DIF will be a part of this :)
I think DIF is perfect for Daniel since we have shown in the past that we bring out the best in specially young players: Källström, Chanko, Stefanidis, Dorsin, Isaksson, the list can be made longer. I really hope this can be a breakthrough for Sjölund, history teaches us that everything indicates that he'll be very successfull.

I'm not asking for miracles, but I think Sjölund will be able to handle the pressure since there's such a great team-spirit in DIF and I read an article where Sjölund expressed how much he liked the atmosphere in DIF :)

Teuvo Moilanen joins Hearts

Hearts have signed goalkeeper Teuvo "Tepi" Moilanen on loan from Preston North End of the English 1st division until the end of the season. Moilanen has played as Preston's number one keeper & might be the next #1 keeper at Hearts after Antti Niemi.

Sampo Koskinen joins IFK Göteborg

Koskinen has moved from Dutch side, RBC Roosendaal to IFK Göteborg. Koskinen has signed a two year contract with the Göteborg outfit. Koskinen wanted to leave RBC due to him being left out of the 1st team.

Tauriainen joins FC Jokerit

Kimmo Tauriainen has joined Helsinki club, FC Jokerit from Norwegian Tippeliga side IK Start. FC Jokerit are also looking to make more signings before the start of the season. An Icelandic NT player may be joining the team. Goalkeeper, Mika Johansson has signed a three year deal with FCJ.

FC Jokerit's Marko Kolsi & Niklas Tarvajärvi have agreed to deals lasting to 2005.

Peter Blomberg on trial at Leicester

Finnish junior NT player Peter Blomberg, 20 may be joining Premiership side LFC who are however fighting it out to avoid relegation. Blomberg has played for Finnish 1st division side, Närpes Kraft.

More info on Blomberg can be found at Närpes Kraft's website :

Couldn't you have posted this in the Finnish Transfer thread?
Signings/rumours in the scale of the one with Niemi and Man Utd can stand alone as a thread, but this one is not perticular international, you know?
