Our next match is away at Espanyol - always a tricky game when we visit their place and even more so on the back of International week. We've survived the injury bug after the first wave of International games during the weekend so God-willing the midweek fixtures will not bite. Almost all our star players are European-based so the only question mark is over Kaka who reaches Madrid on Friday.

Espanyol's biggest summer acquisitions are Luis Garcia and Shunsuke Nakamura, who arrived from Atletico Madrid and Celtic respectively. Other important signings for them include Israeli international Ben Sahar, who came from Chelsea for one million euros, with the rest of the squad filled out with a string of loan and free agency deals (Joan Verdu, Oliva, Wellington Baroni, Ivan Pillud, Pablo Camacho, Facundo Roncaglia). Their biggest signing though is the contract extension for keeper Kameni, who had offers from bigger clubs but decided to stay in Barcelona.

Tough match.

Espanyol are well-rested and have the advantage of a new, intimidating stadium. It was impossible for their fans to create that sort of atmosphere at their old ground with the track around the stadium. The place will be rocking on Saturday evening so our world-class squad need to deliver early to silence the crowd.

I am not sure if Kaka will start but we'll at least have the option of bringing him on in the second half. At the moment he is virtually unplayable and it might need a bit of magic from him to unlock this game.

Kaka will not play for Brazil against Chile, he's suspended and 'll be back to Madrid tomorrow I guess.

Wonderful advantage that is :thumbsup: .

Kaka, Higuain and Raul get a full week to prepare for this match together.

Perhaps give Cristiano a rest?

Higuain can get a lot of minutes if one of Cristiano or Kaka is rested after International weeks and other fixture congestion.

Cristiano Ronaldo will never be rested. He will only miss when injured, and will play even when sick, like the flu he had against Toronto and DC United. He will never be on the bench.

I can't wait for this game, it's gonna be great. Espanyol have such a beautiful stadium now. It's gonna be an entertaining game for sure.

Ben Sahar, LoL :D If that guy is a rare talent than what is Yossi Benayoun? The all time greatest player? Ben Sahar has never impressed me. Benayoun is a great player though.

Luis Garcia (the merengue) is in Espanyol for ages now...

So I don't know who this LG who recently transferred to Espanyol is :googly:

I didn't wrote in Spain deliberately.
I guess he's just an average player in Spain, still, he's the kind of player who can in one single run through the game, score a goal against our not so in shape defense.
just a player to watch, not sure if he'll play though, I hope he does and he fails to score :)

i dnt think there will be any change !! the team is still in need of a stretch of matches with the same very same formation !!

Espanyol are typical difficult team,, but the only part positive i can see is that we will kick their asses is every counter and they'll never want to defend throughout the match !!


I can guess will see mamoudo if we had the lead late in the match ! and perhaps Granero and Higuain for Cristiano and Benzema !!

Am very much antispating !!!

We shouldn't rush him back. I want him to be fully recovered. Arbeloa is just fine at RB. He didn't have a good game against Depor but he's a good player.
