Argentina are not only defending their Olympic gold medal in football, but also in Basketball.

The reserves won’t travel but can be called up prior to the start of the tournament in case a squad member is injured. Argentina will play against Japan in a friendly on 29th July in Tokyo before traveling to Beijing.

Strange coincidence that this looks exactly like WC06 first round (swap Australia for Holland). Hopefully we will do better.

The Argentina basketball team will play vs. Mexico today. After the game, coach Herandez will announce the final 12 players for the Olympics.

It's not the strongest U-23 squad from Serbia unfortunatelly :(. Our two best u-23 midfielders are missing, Zdravko Kuzmanovic (Fiorentina) who just won the Best Young Rising star in Italy award and Miralem Sulejmani (Ajax) who won the Best Young Rising star in Holland for the past year and just transferred to Ajax for 18 million euros. Big hit, but I still look for us to finish 2nd behind Argentina in this group.

Argentina's basketball team lost two friendlies in a row against Spain and Lituania....things are not looking promising especially when the media cretises them even before departing to China.

Argentina land in Shanghai, wait for Messi

The team coached by Sergio Batista arrived in Shanghai on Thursday, where they will debut at the Olympic Games; meanwhile, they wait for Lionel Messi after FIFA favorable ruling.

Hoping to defend the gold medal clinched in four years ago in Athens under Marcelo Bielsa's orders, Argentina Olympic soccer team arrived in Shanghai on Thursday, venue of their first game against Ivory Coast on August 7.

The team coached by Sergio Batista will practice there in order to get ready for the opener game.

They will stay at Huan Ting Towers Hotel, while the practices will be held at Song Jiang Stadium.

It is estimated that Lionel Messi will arrive in Shanghai on Friday; the young player withdrew from FC Barcelona preseason in the United States following FIFA ruled for Argentina.
