Maybe not everyone knows that the winner of the Italian Cup qualifies to the next season's UEFA Cup and that if the winner of the the Italian Cup is already qualified to next season's Champions League then it's the finalist of the Italian Cup who qualifies to the UEFA Cup.
Well, since the semifinals of the Italian Cup are Lazio-Inter and Catania-Roma, if Roma and Inter qualify to the final then no club reaches the UEFA Cup through the Italian Cup, cause both Roma and Inter are already qualified to the Champions League, and authomatically the 7th club of serie A's table qualifies to the UEFA Cup (and the 8th club qualifies to Intertoto). If at least one between Lazio and Catania qualifies to the final of the Italian Cup then the 7th club of serie A qualifies to Intertoto.
Right now we are certain of the 7th place (which gives us a place in the next Intertoto) and we are 1 point below Udinese. Of course Inter and Roma qualifying to the final would give us a certainty of the UEFA Cup spot by now.
So, tonight it's FORZA INTER! and tomorrow night it's FORZA ROMA!
Unfortunately, while I'm confident that Roma will manage to qualify to the final cause they have won 1-0 the first game and Catania are thinking to the relegation battle, I'm more worried about Inter cause in the first leg at San Siro the score was 0-0, Mancini tonight will field mostly reserves and youngsters, while Lazio have nothing else to fight for and will field their best lineup.
