Week 21 - 3/2/08 - Fiorentina - Milan

This is by a distance the most important game of this season sofar. If we manage to beat Viola then we'll be very close to that 4th spot, should we manage to lose though then it will be very very difficult for us to qualify for CL next season. In short: 6 points are at stake in this game.


I would start with Gila and Pato upfront because Ronaldo has probably not been training properly lately and I liked what I've seen from Gila and Pato in 2008. Ronaldo can be introduced later in the game if necessarry.

------- Pato --- Gila

That is my prefered formation for sunday but knowing Carlo he'll probably play with 1 upfront and Seedorf (who's been rested for this game) and Kaka behind him with Rino, Pirlo and Ambro in the midfield.

Forza Milan. 11 leoni !!!

Fiorentina are an attacking team that will not sit back, especially not at Stadio Franchi. Ka-Pa-Ro will be given their spaces and I think it's best to start with them. Gila scored last game yes, but it would have probably been harder to miss (but he did achieve that 2 minutes later, he missed from an even closer distance to the goal). Other than the goal, he was again ineffective. He really needs to raise his game and im getting sick of him getting all the headlines for every goal he gets - I dont know why we are kissing his ass so much for him to stay..

According to Carlo, Serginho, Janku and Pippo should also be fit so that will be the first time this season where we will have a full squad. I just hope Ronaldo makes it, I think he is the one that makes the difference. Let's just hope he doesn't break a nail over the weekend otherwise we'll have to wait for a few more more weeks!

i know its funny but i wanted to share it with you,Some forums and some newspapers(also reffering Gazzetta.it's survery claims Balotelli is better than Pato or comparing him with Pato.its really stupid,a guy who just played a few games in the last 6 months and lacks match practictise,he is adapting to a new lifestyle,a new team mates,every game he plays with different striking partner,despite this he scored 3 goals,he got 3 points vs Genoa alone,he also missed tons of the chances,but Balotelli or who?scored 2 goals vs juventus which played with Stendardo,Belardi and legro,Paloschi scored 2 goals too,lets compare this balotelli kid with our paloschi,Pato is 5 class above of Balotelli.in the past They were comparing Sheva with their Adriano,but they never get their lesson,as Sheva won everything with Milan and plus 45 m euros income from his sale,Adriano is still getting therapy in Brasil,if really they have to compare Pato with someone,it should be Benzama or Messi,i dont accept the below standards.comparing Pato with him is an insult to Milan too.

lamja,we have to win this game so that closing the gap with you,maybe Prandelli could block Kaka and Pirlo with his markers then he never gives space to our players,it would be disaster for our players who are more decisive when they found more space,Milan's central duo form makes me think especially you have Adrian Mutu,hard game but we have to win at all costs,i hope Pato doesnt miss too many chance vs them.

I would play the 4-3-1-2. Fiorentina's midfield sucks and Pirlo and Seedorf can own it by themselves. That's if the team is willing to not attack with all its players except the central defenders and concede a goal as is often the case.

I share your view 100%. However, I think Gila has earned a place in the starting line up. He's still nothing much (and won't be much), and was his usual poor player in the REGGINA match, but he got us 6 important points those two goals, so has earned it.

Considering the way Reggina set themselves up, Gila did very well considering the circumstances. He had a better game that both Pato and Kaka. They had chances but forgot that you're meant to hit the target. Gila on the other hand sealed us the victory. In no possible way is that "ineffective".

However you're very right in saying that Fiorentina will likely give us a lot of room and chances too. If we play a good game with the correct tactic there is no reason why we cannot come away with 3 points.

Serginho and Marek are HUGE additions to have back at Carletto's disposal. Favalli for the most part has been solid but the extra dimension these guys provide on the left would be great to bring later into the game.

But that's Italian media, come on. I couldnt be bothered.
Balotelli seems like a promising youngster for Italy and, unfortunately, for Inter, too. Comparing him with Pato however who already won an Intercontinenale at Balotelli's age is quite rich. Time will show if the Inter guy (and also our little duck) are really becoming great players. I am pretty sure about Pato, but still it's too eary to tell.
Italian media in the past called Salvatore Fresi 'il nuovo Baresi'. Enough said, really ;)

Regarding the game... I am incredibly pessimistic. Our finishing in the last matches, despite the - for this seasons standard - good final results is simply poor. One of our central defenders seems to be a bit unfocussed, to put it mildly. Deisler II (aka R99) is missing again. So far the only top 7 team we beat this season has been Udine in injury time. Yep, I am pessimistic. A win is almost a must, a loss would come close to the end of our CL hope. 11 leoni, thats what we need from now on till the end of the season if we really want to 'rescue' this season somehow and the Fio match is the first of many 'finals' to come.

Nevertheless... FORZA MILAN!

Balotelli should be compared to Paloschi, really. Both have scored two/three goals in the Coppa Italia.

Pato on the other hand has already played on a regular basis for a Brazilian club, notching up decent numbers as well.

But whatever it is, the guy looks good. His physique is going to be a huge asset for him. The goal where he shoved the Juventus defender off was nice.

I like that lineup, but it won't happen.

Should I be able to change something, though, it would be Maldini in the middle and Jankulovski in the left flank.

fiorentina are a great team, and i do not see us winning this one and esspecially away... im hoping for a draw...

Maybe we should go for Di-Od-Ne-Ka-Ma-Pi-Ga-Am-Ka-Pa-Gi, with Ba coming off the bench just for the sake of seeing someone whose name actually has only two letters.

Anyway as you guys know Ronaldo is still not fit, Inzaghi is going to be back for the Siena game and the latest injury is: Rino gone for 50 days according to TMW.

Se has to play because he was rested vs Reggina. Am too.

In an ideal world, we would see Ka supporting Gi and Pa while Se and Pi create from midfield and Ga gets rested.

Btw, I hope we can rest Ka. He's been playing almost non-stop.

Yeah and apparently Pato has been feeling a little bit of pain in his (I can't believe I'm saying this) buttocks. Although he did train with the team today, Carlo is going to play the Xmas formation with Gila just to be on the safe side. Well Gila scored two goals last time :hopeful:
