Pavel Horvath did a "Di Canio"

On another look, it did certainly look like a Nazi salute. It wasn't as obviuous as one from Di Canio where he raised his hand to the full extent, it was almost like Horvath did it so TV cameras wouldnt notice. And the fans in that sector were yelling all sorts of Nazi phrases. I really think that Sparta should ban fans who display Nazi or racist slogans and phrases, it seems like Horvath wanted to show unity with those idiots which makes him look like one as well

He should never have been signed to begin with. It would be great if Sparta would get rid of him, though I don´t expect that. As I have said before, Horvath is old, fat, and slow, and now we can add incredibly stupid to the list. I hope not to see him Saturday against Olomouc.

To be honest he is IMHO valuable for Sparta nowadays. I don't like him either and it's incredible that such an old, fat and slow footballer could have such possition in Sparta but without him the Sparta midfield lacks creativity.

What I don´t understand is why Bilek prefers to play Horvath over Sylvestre. Sylvestre is clearly the best passer on the team, and if given the chance to play regularly he could really light up the midfield.Märco said:

Sylvestre has indeed quality passes but IMHO he is not a natural playmaker. He is DM/CM with good ofensive skills. Horvath? He is like a duck to water as a playmaker. They are different.
There is not a player in Sparta who could play like Horvath. Abraham, Hušek and Sylvestre are all great (and better footballers than Horvath) but none of them is as creative as Pavel. And you could've seen it in Plzen. Bílek fielded Kisel-Abraham-Hušek-Limberský and Sparta didn't have any 100% chance in the match.
I saw the derby Zizkov-Sparta. And Horvath even if he didn't run was one of the best in the match and a key player.
But I'm not saying it's impossible to play without a playmaker. Just look at the midfielders Sparta has. If you want to replace Horvath you have to rebuild the midfield.

CM: Husek (Abraham)
CM: Sylvestre (Abraham)
LM: Matusovic (Limbersky)
Such midfield lacks something IMO. It's not so easy.
Anyway I don't understand why Sparta does not have a better player than Horvath on that possition. There are some even in our league.
Liberec: Hodúr (slim and weak though)
MB: Matějovský (sometimes risks too much)
Slavia: Šmicer (injury prone)
Brno: Polách (loses many balls)
Baník: Lukeš (injured and also weak) and now Otepka (would he be good enough?)
Zlín: Opiela (never seen him play, dunno how good he is)
...
Nobody is perfect but neither is Horváth.
Why did Sparta want Abraham and Kúdela so much (when they already had players on their possitions) and on the other hand let Simák go with no replacement?

Wasn't Zofcak supposed to replace Simak, or are they different type of players? I think there's no question that Horvath has been a very important and talented player most of his career. He was good in young Slavia team of late 90s and then had a good run with Teplice when he came back from Germany. As they say you cant teach talent. Maybe Horvath can fill some of the void left when Poborsky was demoted.
I think more importantly than midfield Sparta needs to invest in a quality striker, Horvath was able to create chances but Rezek and Dosek just cant convert now. There doesnt seem to be much in striker talent in GL as of the moment (Fenin is too expensive), so they might need to find a decent foreign striker in 1mm-2mm range.

I agree Sylvestre is not a natural playmaker, but judging from the competition in the Czech league I think he could easily adapt. I like your above midfield, but I would put Kolar on the right wing. Bilek should put Matusovic on the left and just leave him there. The more he plays the better he is. It was Matusovic who, while playing regularly, carried the team the last two months of last season.Märco said:

The CMFS (Czech football association) Disciplinary Commission has fined Sparta midfielder Pavel Horvath 200,000 crowns for apparently giving a Nazi salute during his team’s August 25th league game against Zizkov.
After hearing the views of an [unnamed] expert in this field, the commission ruled that while there was a high probability that Horvath had given the salute, the gesture was probably intended as a joke.
The player was, however, judged to have “discredited the name of football” — an offence roughly equivalent to the English Football Association’s “bringing the game into disrepute.”
Near the end of a game marred by racist chanting and crowd trouble, Horvath seems to have been responding to Sparta fans chanting the name of assistant coach and former player Horst Siegl in the style of the Nazi “Sieg Heil” chant.

NO CHARGES FOR HORVATH NAZI SALUTE

The decision follows a legal complaint made against the player by Leos Vacek, a member of the far-right Narodni Strana (National Party) organization.
Vacek had argued that in not arresting Horvath, the police had failed to apply the same standards to his gesture that they do to Nazi salutes given at neo-Nazi gatherings.
Following an investigation, however, the police have decided not to actively pursue the case.
