ARGENTINA 39 Pts

Continue to impress and keep on rolling. Right now if the WC started today my money would be on them.

PARAGUAY 30 Pts

Couldn't clinch the WC spot but demostrated once again that they can go toe to toe with any tean in the world even though this time they were missing almost their entire starting midfield. Look for them to go all out in Venezuela and try to wrap up their WC berth. I am sure they don't want to leave their direct qualification hopes pending to the last match against a very possibly desperate Colombian team.

ECUADOR 29 Pts

They are so close now that a draw against Uruguay in Quito will see them through to the WC. They have certainly been one of the top three teams in SA during the last year or so and if they make it they will be very tough to play against in the WC.

Home: Uruguay
Away: Chile

BRAZIL 27 pts

Brazil keeps hanging on to the 4th spot. Their chances are looking good for them to make it directly. Although it might not seem critical for them to get a victory in Bolivia a good result will take the pressure off for the last match against a much improved Venezuelan side.

URUGUAY 25 Pts

Things have gotten complicated for a direct qualification to the WC. It seems more then likely that they will fight with Colombia for the 5th spot. Their remaning schedule is murder, the trip to Quito is vital for not only their slim hopes for direct qualification but to keep Colombia at a distance. Also the Charruas have to be uneasy at having to face Argentina in their last match which could leave them out of the WC.

COLOMBIA 21 Pts

Still barely alive. They have to like their chances against Chile in Bogota though with their anemic offense a victory is never anywhere near certain. The problem is their last match at Paraguay, it's very hard seeing them coming out with a good result in Asuncion let alone a victory. They better start pulling for Ecuador and Argentina. If Paraguay clinches against Venezuela, it wouldn't hurt either, in that way their match with them is less meaningful from the Paraguayan perspective.

PERU 15 Pts

What's Uribe still doing as their head coach? They lost 3-0 at Venezuela. Take a guess what will be the score against Argie in BA. Still fighting not to finish last. The game against Bolivia will determine their final position

Away: Argentina

BOLIVIA 14 Pts

All the wheels have fallen off this wagon. They are going from embarrasement to embarrasement. Not only can they get a whooping on the road now even their vaunted home field is a stroll in the park for the opposition. These guys are a prime candidate to finish last.

VENEZUELA 13 Pts

Is this team on a roll or what? 3 victories in a row. Now things will get a little tougher. Paraguay needs at least a draw in their match to clinch. Then a trip to Brazil which could still be needing points for a direct qualification. I think we will find out just how good this Venezuelan team really is.

CHILE 11 Pts

It is sad to see a team with so many good players fall like this. Lack of organization and amazingly lack of fighting spirit, they gave up halfway through the campaign. They are the most likely team to finish last throwing Chilean football into chaos and embarrasement never seen before.

from fighting till the last game in 98 to waiting for the nightmare to end how a team draws uruguay, brasil and beats colombia away from home loses to venezuela is beyond me

i cant really blame uribe all the players played way below what they can do top of my head palacios, mendoza, ciurlizza, jayo, rebosio, hidalgo and maestri
add to that the crap definition and zero winning mentality and it adds up to the most humiliating defeat in peruvian history

i say we get trashed by argie at least 4 nil
but we will beat the only team thats more pathetic than us
and will probably end up 7th

yep. the road ahead

07-11-01 [81] Buenos Aires/ Argentina vs. PerĂş
07-11-01 [82] La Paz/ Bolivia vs. Brasil
07-11-01 [83] Quito/ Ecuador vs. Uruguay
07-11-01 [84] Bogotá/ Colombia vs. Chile
07-11-01 [85] San CristĂłbal/ Venezuela vs. Paraguay

14-11-01 [86] Montevideo/ Uruguay vs. Argentina
14-11-01 [87] SĂŁo Paulo/ Brasil vs. Venezuela
14-11-01 [88] AsunciĂłn/ Paraguay vs. Colombia
14-11-01 [89] Santiago/ Chile vs. Ecuador
14-11-01 [90] Lima/ PerĂş vs. Bolivia

Is it going down to the second and last games of November to finally nail down who accompanies Argentina ???..It looks that way......Two middle of the week games..back to back within 7 days...interesting !!!!

im going by peoples perception that because you have kewell and viduka that australia is a top 20 team

i dont pay any attention to the stupid fifa ranking

wot ppls perception?

aussies? who cares, we havent seen kewell and dukes play together for NT for 4 years, its pure speculation, and apart from us aussies I really dont think any1 else thinks we're a top 20 sort of side. And if we think that so what? does that mean you should have a personal vendetta against us? anyway sorry didnt mean to get personal, just been in a sh!tty mood.

Ze I agree wholeheartedly with ure last post, we simply have no clue abt how to play decisive games, b/c simply WE NEVER FU(KIN PLAY THEM!!!!!! Even though our nations sportmen are generally very strong mentally, with soccer its different, we just dont play any pressure cooker type games to know how to handle them. We dont have much chance.

tiger,
then that is even bad news for oyu. To play a decisive game is already tough, when you play it in south america is even tougher...and when you play in Uruguay it's the same as seeing Freddie Kruger live;) :(

.
its not a personal vendetta
all im saying is that whoever is 5th in south america will have the last leg at home have been playing together for a while and can peform under presure making them the odds on favorites to go to korea and japan

Thats funny I thought u trashed us something to the effect of this...................

Maybe next time you can choose ure words a bit more carefully coz wot u said the first time was downright insulting

Dont jump the gun you guys !!!!

Other than Argentina, who as we all know, wont play Australia.....we can speculate and speculate for a whole month wha'll happen, but we really wont know till the 7th, or even perhaps the 14th of next month Who that Nation will be...
Only then we can really get into this great subject of conversation..

BTW ??? Will that game against Australia be played before the end of 2001 ???

It is my understanding all the qualifiers must be done B4 the end of the year.

So what is the weather like in Ecuador in November.
In Quito the weather is the same year round with the exception that from December to April it rains.

The game is at 4PM so look for temperature to be around 23C/74F. It should be pretty dry and of course the altitude is always the same 2840m/7952ft.
