I do too. He'll probably leave somewhere mid-August, leaving us as the transfermarket losers.

Sneijder wil na de belangrijke voorrondewedstrijd eerder die maand echter niet meer weg, laat hij donderdag weten aan Novum Nieuws.

Voorronde

De 23-jarige Sneijder is niet van plan de duels in de voorronde van de Champions League aan zich voorbij te laten gaan om zo toch een transfer af te dwingen. Hij mag na het spelen van die duels dit seizoen niet meer voor een andere club in Europees verband in actie komen.

"Tot 14 augustus laat ik alles open. Ik hoop nog op een mooie club, maar als ik die voorrondewedstrijd heb gespeeld blijf ik sowieso bij Ajax en ga ik niet meer weg", stelt hij.

Valencia

Sneijder leek de afgelopen maand naar Valencia te verhuizen. De Spaanse club schrok echter van de door Ajax gevraagde transfersom en trok zich uiteindelijk terug. Voor zijn ploeggenoot Ryan Babel was een overstap naar Liverpool deze week echter in een paar dagen beklonken.

"De werkwijze van Liverpool is niet met die van Valencia te vergelijken", oordeelt Sneijder. "Bij Ryan ging ging het in een bliksemvaart, terwijl het in mijn geval in een grote soap uitmondde. Ik ben uiteindelijk nog gewoon in Amsterdam."

Real Madrid to bid for Ajax's Sneijder

Real Madrid are preparing a bid for Ajax winger Wesley Sneijder.
Marca says Real are turning to the 23 year-old Holland international after being turned down by Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas over the weekend.

Ajax are ready to open talks over a fee for Sneijder and expect a bid to arrive from Real this week for the midfielder.

To be honest, he's too limited player for Real Madrid.I think that Wes must be a bit frustrated now, seeing Babel departure.Very annoying.If every our youngster will have his attitude, we'll never build a decent team in a 100 years time. :thmbdown: The price for him is great of course, but he's far from ready for such a step.One more year at Ajax, would have been the best solution for him.

are you not underestimating Sneijder?

obviously you as an Ajax fan would like to see him stay but just like with Kuijt with us last summer, if I was to be honest and ask myself, is there anything he could learn by staying in Holland? my answer would be no. Admittedly Kuijt isn't technically as gifted but if he was to move onto another level, then he'd have to play in a higher standard league as he was just banging them in for fun here last season without even showing the same great form he had under Gullit when he seriously was on fire.

I think the same is with Sneijder. He had a great last season but what is he going to learn by facing players like Alfred Schreuder yet again?

Is Sneijder that much inferior to Clarence Seedorf when he was this age? certainly not imo and he did well at top clubs at this age too.

I dedicated my last sentence to Babel, not Wesley Sneijder. ;)

Fully agree with you.He has to go, if he wants to develop further.There's no point for him to stay one more year in Holland.Though I wouldn't mind it tbh.

Yeah. I can totally understand that he wants to leave now, although I would sorely miss him at Ajax. :( In my opinion Valencia would be a better club for him than Real Madrid. At Valencia he would be a regular starter from beginning, I doubt that would be the case in Madrid where they maybe would only buy him cause others aren´t available. He would perfectly suit into La Liga.

What a great, loyal man he is! Players like De Jong, De Ridder and (quite possibly) Babel should only learn from him.

The situations of the others were different, MP.

Neverthess... I hope that´s the final word about it now and that we do not see a shock move on August 31st. I believe Wesley when he says he´ll stay, but you never can be too sure about such things. I think Wesley had left if a club had been willing to pay the money he´s worth it. For 30 Mio or so he had for sure left! He wanted to leave and the main reason that he´s still there is because Ajax didn´t accept the offers they got.

But Wesley is a clever man, he knows that after another great season and good performances at the Euro 2008 (and maybe as European Champion...who knows... ;) ) he will receive many very good offers. And Ajax can get more cash than the ca. 14 Mio Valencia reportedly wanted to pay now. Good to see that the officials finally refuse to sell the jewels to the big clubs abroad under price. Some have learnt from the past.

I am happy that he stays, ´cause he´s the most important player at Ajax and I´d seen no one to replace him soon.
