After scoring in Montenegro’s first win ever in the history of football, Mirko Vucinic now wants to make a mark for his club side, AS Roma.
“I am happy my national team won its first game. The biggest satisfaction was to see the Montenegro people return to the stadium,” Vucinic told reporters this afternoon.
Vucinic scored the first of two goals that allowed the newly formed nation to beat Hungary on Saturday.
The former Lecce striker’s form has been improving in the last months, and he is ready to help the Romans in their Serie A and Champions League campaigns.
“I can give more, I’m sure. With time, I would love to gain a regular starting role,” he said.
“Saturday we face Milan, who have Ronaldo, the player I consider to be the best in the world. Then we play Manchester United. A great team, but also against Lyon we were the underdogs,” he added.
While it is almost certain Vucnic wont get to play from the start against Manchester United, there are some slim chances he could feature against the Rossoneri.
I hope he can get more playing time with Roma. More playing time benefits him and the Montenegro NT at the same time.
