IHMO in modern day football he was one of best talented striker maybe top 5 .....simply he was more talented than Henry:excited: but he is in surrounding World Class striker until.

have your say...

He was never more talented than Henry although he was really special while at Arsenal.

As for reaching his potential, he screwed himself over by thinking he was the man. Never recovered from that.

Not many have his natural technique, physique and ability, but he ONLY plays when he's in the right mindframe. If he's not motivated, which is most of the time, he's just a pedestrian..

If he is motivated, you can't find many that come close..

I think Wenger's pretty much the only manager he's done it for. He'll have the odd game here and there where he turns it on but for his time at Arsenal he was lethal.

I can't remember who the manager was, possibly Houllier, had Anelka sit a personality test in which for self-confidence he scored the practically unheard of score of 9/9 - the manager wondered if he'd cocked up the test and sent it to the psychologist to check but it was correct. Very headstrong for one so reportedly quiet in the changing room and so easily lead by his money grabbing sh*tface brothers outside of it...

Henry's definitely better allround.

Anelka was fantastic that season at Arsenal, but I remember he was always getting great passes, allowing him to run deep all the time. Speed and finishing were no problem.

Maybe he got too big too quickly.

had he stayed at Arsenal he would have been a bigger house hold name.

Still dont know why he was not in the France 98 team/squad?

Henry might have the more all rounded game, but IMO Anelka is a much better finisher. Wastes of space like Lucky Luciano seem to have a ball making fun of Henry for not putting away that chance we had early on in the Champions League final, but that's because pure finishing isn't Henry's best attribute. Anelka would've burried it.
