Theo Walcott should have come here as well instead of wasting his talent at Arsenal.

I bet Aguero wrecks his career by going to Real Madrid, all these great youngsters ruining their careers by not signing for Liverpool! :frustrat: I Blame their agents.

Sturridge won't get away though. :strong:

SM - Worked for Lennon. :)

Yeah, hopefully he'll get better advice than Walcott. As long as he'd be playing football and not dicked around then I would love to see him at Liverpool. :D

Whitbread sold for 3200k to Milwall

Steve Hunter 13 June 2006

Zak Whitbread has completed a permanent move to League One side Millwall after a successful loan spell at the New Den last season.

The American born centre half made six appearances for Liverpool's first team and was a regular during the Carling Cup run in 2004, when he helped the team to memorable victories over Millwall, Middlesbrough and Tottenham Hotspur.

Former Liverpool midfielder Nigel Spackman swooped to make the move permament and Whitbread has signed a two-year deal with the London club as they aim to bounce back to the Championship following relegation last season.
Well Whitbread has been sold, for a fee rising to ÂŁ200,000. He looked a decent prospect, but didn't mature to the level we needed and ofund it hard to break into th e first team squad. Plus we've also got a lot of young defenders who seem prospects aswell in the form of: Agger, Palletta, Hobbs, Antwi, Roque.

Walcott scout gets Reds role Jun 29 2006

By Chris Bascombe, Liverpool Echo

THE scout who discovered Theo Walcott has been handed a key talent finding role at Liverpool's Academy. Malcolm Elias has announced he's leaving his job as Head of Recruitment at Southampton to take on the same position for the Reds.

Although Liverpool won the FA Youth Cup this season, there have been murmurings for some time about the overall standard of young players coming through the ranks in recent seasons. The appointment of Elias will build on the necessary changes Rafa Benitez has enforced at the Melwood end of the youth recruitment operation.

Benitez and his backroom staff took their own steps a year ago by signing five of the teenagers who starred in the Youth Cup Final. That policy proved a success when a combination of Melwood and Kirkby youngsters lifted the trophy for the first time since 1996.

Chief executive Rick Parry believes Liverpool have now appointed one of the most accomplished talent scouts in the country. He said: "Malcolm has a fantastic track record at Southampton and an extremely good reputation. We've been looking to expand our recruitment department at The Academy for some time, and this appointment is part of that. As ever, we've taken an opportunity to bring one of the best in the business to Liverpool."

Southampton's youth side has been considered one of best in the country for several years. Elias' most famous signing was the teenage sensation Walcott, who he signed from Swindon for ÂŁ200,000 seven years ago. Walcott later joined Arsenal for ÂŁ12m.

Now the Reds will be hoping Elias' talent spotting brings players of similar class to Merseyside.

Meanwhile, Bolton believe they've convinced Didi Hamann to join them, after the midfielder originally had second thoughts on the signing.
 Southampton have had some good youngsters coming through, hopefully we can get a similar sort of output from our youth structure, great to see the club looking at all avenue's

LATE EQUALISER EARNS REDS A POINT

A late equaliser from Mattone Awang gave Liverpool Under-18s a point as they drew 1-1 at home with Wolves in the Reds latest Academy League encounter.
Awang came off the bench to telling effect for Liverpool when he got a touch to deflect a Charlie Barnett effort into the net for the equaliser.

"We are still searching for that elusive first win of the season but while I'm disappointed not to have won I was pleased with how we played," Reds Under-18 boss John Owens told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"Wolves are a very tall side and nine of their players were a lot bigger than ours. We had a problem because our tallest centre back Laurence Gaughan only came back from international duty on Friday so he couldn't start. My fears were then realised when Wolves opened the scoring from a set piece.

"We did well in the second half and we got an equaliser which we deserved. We play Everton on Saturday so we will keep working hard and hopefully we will give a good account of ourselves against them."

Liverpool Under-18 team v Wolves: David Roberts, John Routledge, Michael Burns, Jay Spearing, Stephen Behan, Charlie Barnett, Ben Parsonage (Mattone Awang 70), Ryan Wignall, Michael Scott (Michael Collins 70), Jon Pringle (Lee Woodward 70), Paul Barratt. Subs unused: Daniel MacDonald (GK), Laurence Gaughan.

Deo and Elshani will be on cloud 9 now :D, it seems LFC is becoming a Club version of a Kosovan NT :pp
Well, if most or all players that have been born in Kosovo, or have Kosovan origin accept to play for Kosovo when the NT will form, we will have a really decent team, capable of at least qualifying for a major competition... :hopefull:

I hope one day we get England in our Group, I just have to go 60km from here to watch some Liverpool players... :hopefull:
