One thing just comed to mind while sitting and thinking a little. The season 98/99 Moratti fired Luigi Simoni because he didn´t play attractive football. He played too defensively and at that time Moratti didn´t care about results as he wanted to see entertaining football. As we all know it all went out after firing Gigi.
Gif was a coach that based his tactics of discipline in defence and used counterattacks to score most of the time.Ronaldo with his pace are perfect for that and even though he used defenders like Bergomi,Colonnese,Galante and West we had a really good defence.

Now Moratti have appointed Cuper as the new coach and he is an improvement of Gigi but have the same ideas of how to play football.Cuper is also very defensive and people find him boring. He also uses counterattacks and is even better at that than what Gigi is/was...Now Cuper haven´t coached a Serie A team yet but based on the tactics he have been using in Spain and the CL he seems to be perfect for Serie A.

Now the question is: Have Moratti realized that results count and not playing attractive?Because it seems a little strange that he appoints a coach that plays almost exactly like Gigi did and he fired Gigi only because he played too defensive. What if Cuper doesn´t get the best results the first season and uses defensive tactics? Will we see Cuper getting fired then also?I sure doesn´t hope that Moratti is that dumb to do that and have patience and that he believes that Cuper can bring is a Scudetto by playing catenaccio_Or is it like always that Moratti have no idea what he is doing and just thought since Cuper have been very successfull so far he is a good coach but basically have no idea what kind of tactics he uses?It wouldn´t surprise me at all since Moratti barely knows what football is :howler:
Cuper like Gigi haven´t so far used typical star defenders, instead using defenders that have been working like a team.Might explain why we signed Vivas.

So to make it short we have got ourself a new Gigi Simoni and an even better one and hopefully this time we´ll keep him.

So go ahead Cuper and play defence and bring us discipline and don´t care about playing attractive.

True Amo, we have a brilliant squad, now it will be exciting to see wether Cúper can make them play like a team.

That's a great post Jimmy . I've been thinking about it, and I wouldn't mind Cúper to play the most boring football, as long as he wins games. I think he's a perfect coach for Inter or Serie A in general, and I've been saying this for some time now :).

If you look at the players he used, in one of the best defences in the CL this year, you'd be surprised. He made players like Angloma, Carboni, Ayala and so forth brilliant, by spoting their stronger sides. He did the same thing with the midfield IMO. Considering the potential we have, I believe he'll make a truly great side out of our players . I think we need to give him time, and if Moratti will have patience aswell, I can see a great period ahead :proud:.

I was just thinking Inter's line up next season :)

Frey
Cordoba Blanc Materazzi Vivas
Dalmat Emre Farinos Conceicao
Vieri Recoba/Ronaldo

AMAZING!!!
is this really amazing though?? many of these players we dont want, but are signed: Vivas, emre, conceicao. (nmaybe it's just me though)

an excellent thread MR jimmy

where you wrote this:

(Or is it like always that Moratti have no idea what he is doing and just thought since Cuper have been very successfull so far he is a good coach but basically have no idea what kind of tactics he uses?)

i think that moratti brought him because he made 3 europeans finals in a row,i think that he didnt realized that he will play the catenaccio style, and would be boring for him and for other people, but for me no ,because if someone truly love the serie A it means that he like cuper style of playing.

according to nelson vivas i didnt saw him play too much but for just being in the argentinian national team so it tell us that he is a great player..........

so that would be my line-up:

frey
vivas ferrari materazzi cordoba

vieira/emre
conceicao dalmat/recoba
pirlo/emre

R9 V32/ventola

when i put the dash thing i mean that if the first one is not available........so to put the other choice...the first choices are the ones in thae right side.
i didnt putzanetti because he will probably go to real madrid,i know that NObody here believe in emre (the turk maradona)but i still believe in him.........

if you come to me right now and tell me which player would you like to have in your scuad i tell him JUAN ROMAN RIQUELME the best player in the world........believe me

iam sorry about the line-up its ugly is that i cant use tthe code

its like this in the mid:

vieira/emre
conceicao dalmat/recoba
pirlo/emre

ohhhhhhhhh sh$t you will understand me viera a little bid more at the back but not as a defensive mid its just something like it,and pirlo not as a play maker,in teh lin of four mid just a little bid more in front

sorry

forza inter

What i don't want is Moratti to change his mind in the middle of the season and get fed up of "boring" but productive pay. Moratti is extremely fickle, and i have my fingers crossed on this one. Patience is definitely not part of Moratti's makeup, and i dread if he resorts to his old ways.

Gigi, is still my favourite coach of all time, and no one can replace him IMO, not at least until Cuper lands us in some sort of winning position :)

 Ciao Mr Gigi, you are in our hearts forever

Ciao,
Tim

Conceicao on the left? ;)

Well, did u really signed Sergio, u bastards :( What a great player he is...

But I am not sure about Amos lineup...

first, I think Vieri might leave and Recoba... well, if Dida is banned for 2 years, he should be banned aswell.
2nd, I dont think Ronaldo will be back again, he will be injured very soon, just a strange feeling, but my feelings are at least more trustful than most papers ;)
3rd, Dalmat on the wing? I am not sure about it, too
4th, Emre... I think he is overrated heavily... I was never really amazed by him, maybe he can prove me wrong in Serie A at Inter...
5th, Farinos? Maybe Cuper can bring him back to old form... but was his old form good enough for Serie A? Doubtful candidate, like Emre IMO...
6th, I dont know if Cordoba is great on this position.. but unless u dont want to bench either Blanc or Materazzi, he must play there.

7th... one single Italian player :D Yeah, thats Inter ;)

Don't fire another manager plz...

I really dont like Moratti as he is impatient toward his manager and young players

He wanted instant success and nowadays with tough competition from other serie A club it is hard to achieve it

I think inter have the best young talents in ITALY right now.....Pirlo, ventola, frey, cirrilo, ferrari, etc
I hope inter won't sell those people!!! they are inter's future

at first I don't agree with the firing of TARDELLI....
because my first impression is that we won't get anywhere if we keep firing our manager after 1 season.
I think tardelli did a good job by giving INTER an European place for next year......BUT......after I heard that CUPER is coming...I'm quite please with the decision.

I agree that we don't need to play attractive football...as long as we're winning...I'm cool with that.....
I really hope CUPER can bring teamwork to inter
because as I see it INTER only gives the ball to their star player (ronaldo, vieri) and stand there waiting for them to do something

I dont like that....Soccer is a team sport
we should play more passing, crossing, through balls, etc
like MAN UTD (UGH I hate MU...but gotta admit they play teamwork really well and that's why they are so success)

So my lineup for next year will be

frey

ferarri-blanc-materrazi-cordoba

zanetti-dibiagio-jugovic-dalmat

ronaldo-vieri

(this is considering INTER would not get any more big name guys that we really needs)

QUite frankly AMo.....that's the worst phuckin line up ithink i have ever seen you put out in all my years at http://www.xtratime.com

Cordoba Materazzi and Blanc and Vivas hahahahah

That sucks Bro.....Frankly i expect better from you I mean serious.............Blanc and Materazzi? HA!!!!!!

Anyway.....also Farinos and Emre that must be the most pussified midfield in Serie A.......Farino is a nancy bway AMO.....stop clinging on to him.....he's a lozer. Of course Cuper will try to play him more but he too will realize what is needed in Serie A. DiBiagio is much more suited to Serie A. Zanetti probably in central midfield Cocaicao on the right and Dalmat on the left.....SImple

But also Cuper has played also the 4-3-1-2 which would probably see Dalmat and Zanetti on the inside left and right sides respectively and DIBiagio in th emiddle with Emre or Pirlo as playmaker.

WHo knows.......Seedorf might even stay  WHo knows we'll see.

But once agian for teh record YOUR LINE UP SUCKS AMO!!!!!!! BIG TIME!!!!!!

I will really be VERY VERY happy if Cuper can consdider 4-3-1-2 and preserve players like Seerdorf and Pirlo. Actually looking at the way Juventus is picking up lately makes this formation seem quite attractive afterall.

In my view Moratti is a person who likes to see Inter play with an attractive attaking style. He seems to really enjoy building a team with a dynamic attack and have only got more obsessed after Ronaldo's success. The biggest mistake he made was sacking Simone while Lippi had a less professional character than I thought. Tardelli afterall was an interim gamble since he was not our No.1 choice in the first place.

Actually Tardelli isn't fired from an organizational standpoint. Tardelli is only being relieved of his training duties and being reassigned to a new post. Of course that is the same thing as forcing him out, but at least Tardelli has accepted this with tranquility as he is pragmatic person. I really appreciate his graciousness from the way he is leaving the post and I hope Moratti will remember him for all his effort he made at his work.

I believe Moratti really should not be blamed too much for our misfortunes. Yes, he had made some bad tranfer decisions, but evidently he is gradully coming to have a clear conscience to sign disciplinarian figures like Moggi (unsucessfully) and Cuper. I think Cuper's primary priority will be to persuade the players to see the game with a different attitude, as right now our players lack discipline and often cannot capitalize on the posession we have.

However, I must also say that we should expect another long transitional period when Cuper arrives. Afterall, Cuper will need to learn the team and start the painful elimination process of players that cannot collaborate with his plans. Moratti should well know this will happen but as always he will preserve his friendly image and ax players though Cuper's name....

I think that all of you assuming that Cuper likes to play "catenaccio" like Zoff did at Euro 00 (which drove the british crazy by the way...LOL...how lovely) might be assuming a bit too much about this coach.
Lets stop and think about something for a second, did Cuper have any really world-class strikers at Valencia for the Liga or even the Champions League, think about it...Carew...Ilie...Alonso...Sanchez...no wonder the man plays good old, safe and sure, counter-attack football!!
What I mean, is that in the Valencia squad Mendieta and Kily Gonzalez together have twice as much skill, pace and finishing ability has all their strikers put together!!!
Hector Cuper, is an argentinian folks, think Maradona, Careca, Di Stefano, Batistuta, have you ever met or heard of an argentinian coach who was strictly defensive???
Hector Cuper is a very smart and knowledgeable football mind, remembering he is not stupid, let's all remember that Inter in my view has now, an could potentially have one of the most electrifying, skilled, pacefull, powerfull, and exciting bunch of strikers in the world.
Ronaldo, Vieri (hopefully) Recoba (pending possible suspension) Kallon (whom Cuper loves, and wants back from loan) and possibly Montella, if Vieri decides to go!
Let me also make one more observation, Hector Cuper, has expressed his desire to bring Canizares with him from Valencia, which if you guys stop and think about it, might not be such a bad thing, after all Frey is talented but also incosistent, and if we wanna make a run at the scudetto Canizares and his safe hands, cool attitude, and experience will definatly come in handy!!!
Not only that, but I am positively sure that Arsene Wenger would definatly give us Vieira for Frey and cash, or maybe Frey-Seedorf, or Frey-Zanetti!!!
Than Inter could have one of the best mid-fields in the world, with Dalmat on the left side, Conceicao on the right side, Farinos and Vieira and Central-defensive-partners would be truly awesome !!! Vieira would be a force for us, off the corners he is really scary if the ball is anywhere near his head!!
I smell greatness in the future, and I can't understand the fools out there who think that bringing in better players to fill specific needs or replace a few stale ones, is a bad thing, granted consistency is good thing, (see: Bayern Munich and Manchester United) but if you spend, you get the right coach and the signings play up to their potential, then what you get is what happened to Roma this year, and don't tell me their a one year wonder, Sensi is not very different from Moratti in my eyes, a little older and wiser, and luckier definatly...he has Capello, he has a the biggest italian star in Totti, and made some great signings last year to overhaul the team last year: Samuel, Zebina, Emerson, Batistuta and Montella!!!
HELLO!!!
IF YOU DO BUY THE RIGHT PLAYERS, HAVE THE RIGHT COACH, MENTALITY, LEADERSHIP AND EFFORT, U CAN GO FROM 6th OR 7th TO A SCUDETTO WINNING TEAM!!!
Wheter all of u change-fearing peopleout there wanna hear that or not, that is a FACT, if you still don't believe it see where Roma finished in the standings last year, and what they have done this year !!!

What happened to all you guys in this forum who say don't buy anybody, Moratti don't spend anymore money...that rich idiot is trying to make the team better, gosh darn it, let's put him down....did you all just realize what Roma did in the summer?
Buy world class talent, have Capello, Totti, Cafu, Candela, Batistuta, decide they were good enough to fight for the title, believe in it all the way, and go for it!
Nice story, it can happen at Inter too, but keeping all the same players for this so-called "consistency" all you guys (you know who you are, Tazz? anybody else?) is better,
OR IS IT???

First of all Carmelo16:

", did Cuper have any really world-class strikers at Valencia for the Liga or even the Champions League, think about it...Carew...Ilie...Alonso...Sanchez...no wonder the man plays good old, safe and sure, counter-attack football!!"

Have you alreayd forgot that Cuper had Claudio Lopez in his team the first season?Or are you consider him as a non-world class player aswell?
I would say that if Cuper had the best strikers in the world he would play the same as he does right now since all coaches have a tactic they use no matter how good their strikers might be.We are gonna have Ronaldo on top and he is perfect for counterattacks.I also believe that if Valencia have had better strikers this season they would come second in the league but it is a real striker this season they have lacked.Last season they had Lopez so Cuper have managed great strikers with Valencia also.
Another thing that I´m sure of that he will play the same tactics here as in Spain,is that he played like this with Mallorca also and why in the world would he all of the sudden change tacics when he comes to a league where those are suited?Nah,Cuper is a defensive coach wheter you like it or not.

I´m not sure what you are getting at when you involve Roma in this. They signed two world stars to improve their team.Batistuta and Emerson.Emerson got injured and have been missing for the most of the season. One player grows to a superstar that they bought as longer as the season went.Samuel...He wasn´t any superstar when they bought him. That same thing can happen to Ferrari and Cirillo aswell. They grow into superstars when they play them and therefore we don´t need to buy any defenders that are already superstars.
Emerson gets injured and a player in Roma starts being total worldclass.Tommasi....Have just been a decent player before but Roma have kept him for many years and now he is also a superstar and one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. The next superstar in that team will be Cristiano Zanetti a player that Moratti got rid of!!!...But what you have failed to see is that most of the season Roma have played with 8 players from start that also played there last season. The other three players where players they needed to fill the positions they were lacking. That´s what we need to do also and not buying a whole new squad...again!!!...The three players that are new that Roma have been playing are Zebina,Samuel and Batistuta...I don´t count Emerson since he hasn´t been a regular for Roma most of this season. So that is 8 of 11 that played last season also.So ofcourse keeping players are better.Juve have been dominating Serie A during the mid 90´s because they did this. And when Lazio won they bought the right players that were needed. We buy players that we don´t need,we just buy for the buying sake.Typical Moratti crap.

"IF YOU DO BUY THE RIGHT PLAYERS, HAVE THE RIGHT COACH, MENTALITY, LEADERSHIP AND EFFORT, U CAN GO FROM 6th OR 7th TO A SCUDETTO WINNING TEAM!!!"

Agreed, but the problem is when have we signed they right players? We have signed players that aren´t really needed in the team like Seedorf,Gresko,Jugovic,Sukur and so on...We have signed these when we could have just kept Ventola,Pirlo,Kallon and Cristinao Zanetti. And not to mention Luca Mezzano.
You also need the right president that knows something about football to be a Scudetto team. That´s why we won´t win a Scudetto under Moratti.

Good logical post Jimster

What i think is that if Moratti would think beforehe did his business we would be in a much better situation. I would never forget the day before th ebeginning of the season we stuck DiBiagio in the team and loaned out C.Zanetti. What doe sthat prove? DiBiagio is a decent player but C.Zanetti is one of the key players at ROma this season and also quite a bit of the last.

I remember when his key play won the derby for Roma....all i was saying was "Thanx Moratti" His fantastic passing and crunching tackles bettered only by Tomassi who has been at Roma for years now.

I really don't think Roma is a godo example to prove your point.

Zago and Aldair have been there for over 3 years each now. Candela two Cafu too. Totti has never played for another club. He has played over 200 Serie A games for Roma and only just turned 24.

Delvecchio left us over 4 years ago.

Sure they signed Montella Nakata Emerson Batigol Samuel in the last 3 years.

Compare that to our shopping list. Frankly i agree that Sensi is an idiot. But i have my own reasons for saying so. One pointed example of his idiotic behaviour is releasing the cosmicly talented Gaetano D'Agostino for the spoilt bratt Cassano. RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!

Anyway.....ROma's a bad example. But you can find many examples to support my theory. Juve aswell as Lazio. Juve for making their own team basically by buying players on their potential and thenmaking them into valuable assets. and Lazio for buying with intelligence.

The only stupid move Lazio have made in the past 3 or4 years is releasing Conceicao. Other than that everything has worked out beautifully for Lazio due to intelligent buying policies. Paying 50 for Crespo is ridiculous...But we all know its the times we live in and not the player or club.

Carmello i understand what you are saying.....a few intelligent buys always lifts the team....look at Roma......a competent team simply add Batigol Emerson Samuel and its world class.

INTER on teh other hand have to go ut and but 6 or 7 players which is just ridiculous.

You don't just buy players and give the team character. You have to bulid it up gradually through continuity of setting coaching and teammates. Gives a player a sense of belonging

AND FOR TEH CLOWN THAT said we could let Zanetti go to get Viera......IS THERE NO DECENCY LEFT IN TEH WORLD??????

I just hope Zanetti really does leave for people like you who can't appreciate that one of teh greatest players plays for INTER without complaining about the lack of silver ware. If Zanetti moved to a competent team you would suddenly realize what kinda player this man is. Hope he does go somewhere like Spani where those wide open spaces would show everyone what class of player this is.

Jimmy and Tazz your both wrong about Roma, I know that guys like: Candela, Cafu, Aldair, Totti, Delvecchio and Tommasi had been there, but last year with those players they didn't even do as good as Inter is doin' this year!
So once again, the right players (even if they're new to the team) do win championships!! And I also think you can buy character, see Thuram, Guardiola, Rui Costa, those players would add a huge amount of character, leadership and winning mentality!

Jimmy:
Claudio Lopez played at Valencia two years ago, and even then, he was their only solid striker with a lot of pace and finishing ability! Roma signed more than two players! hello!? Samuel, Zebina, Montella, Emerson, Batistuta, Nakata, even Zanetti and Tommasi could be considered new players, Tommasi has played better this year that he has ever played, same goes for Zanetti, ALL those guys will probably win them their 3rd scudetto on Sunday June 17th 2001 !
Tazz:
who the F#@K are you to call me a clown???
Just because I would let Zanetti go to either Real Madrid, or to Arsenal for Patrick Vieira! Any intelligent football mind would exchange Zanetti for Patrick Vieira! that's a no-brainer, Vieira dominates in the air, his a sure tackler, has plenty of pace, and his also a great passer!!!
Sorry to rain on your party, but I would ONLY keep Javier Zanetti if he would embrace the role of right-back, and we'd have Sergio Conceicao has our right wing, HUGE offensive up-grade!!!
But Vivas is already an Inter player, and having him playing right back would be fine, an experienced, reliable, right-back who would cover Conceicao's shoulders beatifully!
And don't give me any horse ****, about me not realizing what kind of player Zanetti is until he moves to a team in Spain, bullcrap, I already know what kind of player he is, and I love him, the fact that his played most of his professional career at Inter, his fighting spirit and leadership, but I differently from you, don't think in the terms of one player, I think in terms of making the team better, IF his leaving makes the team better, GREAT! it would be a little bittersweet, but if you wanna win the scudetto you got to make moves like that!
ex. Lazio sell Vieri to us, they win the Scudetto!
and by the way Tazz, NO team in Serie A makes only 3 0r 4 transfers in the summer, its usually around 10 or so, either way, don't believe me go check out: http://www.italian-soccer/0001i/seriea/sutr.shtml

Anyway, Frey might become expendable this summer, only because would like to have Canizares join him at Inter, I wonder if Canizares would join his coach, and his old team-mate, I wouldn't mind !
LOL!

Well as far as i can think now Moratti is looking for results and only results....he does't care how inter plays
after the bari match he said
Inter have achieved there objective of 3 points even though they were not playing the way i wanted them to play

Juve might have got 10 transfers or so. But did they get Sukur, Farinos, Serena, Gresko, Maccelari etc. Who are all top class players?

No, they bought Zanchi, Trezeuget, Amoruso etc. Which is like talking in different languages.

As for Lazio, we are not talking of Selling Recoba which is equal to selling Vieri. We are talking about selling Zanetti our heart, which is same as Lazio selling Nesta.
