Hey, Westerveld is a good keeper as well. He made quite a lot of important saves this season. He has to improve his handling on crosses and... not to be too stupid sometimes, like kicking the ball while a striker is still in front of him... that's it! :)

True....both of them are in the same class. as i said if i rate them accordingly to their consistency, Sullivan is better than. in term of skills, they are around the same.

Hope to see some improvement in Westerveld. anyway he's still quite young !

Right now there are only two goalkeepers competing for the "best" title.Gigi Buffon and Oliver Kahn.Under them are Barthez and Toldo.

And that list is laughable.
IMHO Toldo is the 1st choice keeper for the italian guernsey! I would of thought anyway, Buffon for me is a bit toooo flashy... but i dont see a lot of him!!

last season sullivan was the best keeper in the EPL, often it was his performances that kept a pretty horrible tottenham on a level term ( remember they had 4 or 5 0-0 draws in a row) .... and it wasnt there attacking saving them the games!!

ALTHOUGH: 8 million pounds would make him the most expensive goalkeeper.... barthez came for a bargain 7.8

Sullivan. IMO he is clearly better than Sander, and was easily the premiership's best keeper last season.

I can't agree that Sullivan was the Premiership's best keeper last year. Keepers such as Barthez, Wright and Martyn have to feature somewhere within that category. Which one, well, in my biased opinion, Barthez would edge it.
But I still think Shay Given would be a good bet for Liverpool.

the list.... Schmeichel, Westerveld and Casillias are misplaced. Schmeichel used to be the best, but he's far from that now. In the opta list ( http://www.opta.co.uk - great stats ) Westerveld is 10th of keepers in the EPL.
IMO Barthez, van der Saar, Kahn ( I hate him ), Toldo and Chilavert are the best.

Well, i just looked at the stats by football ranking. France has the 5th best national team, Netherlands the best. Best coach is Fergscum, Luis van G. is 2nd.
Does anyone think this is an official stat ? Me not think so

Has any of you see saw Van Der Sar this season? not that he is a bad goalkeeper overal, but the guy is missing it.He has been tottaly crap this season.

Beechy,if you saw enough of Buffon, you would change your opinion. :) Toldo is a great, great goalkeeper, but he is not Buffon.Buffon is amazingly good for a 23 years old goalkeeper. No goalkeeper should be THAT good at THAT age.Especially this season Buffon was just terrific,he pulled at least two or more "impossible" saves at every game,a delight to see.Simply, the best goalkeeper in the world.

Van der Saar had a bad season. As had Zidane, Davids,..... But when he's in the goals of the national team, he's great ( As are Zidane, Davids,.....). But still, he's had the best record of italian goalkeepers - I guess I read that in opta, too). There were just 2 ahead of him, but both played just 2 or 3 games.

Amoruso, I agree with you. Buffon is the best keeper in the world. Toldo , I would rate as the second best and Van der Saar has had a terrible season for Juve. We need a keeper who inspires the defence and that sort is nigh impossible to find.
