Group A : Portugal, Poland, Serbia & Montenegro, Belgium, Finland, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan
Very tight group. The three bottom seeds are all likely to grab some points, unless Kazakhstan completely fails again. Finland has a chance (especially at second place), but will have eight difficult matches ahead of them, and six matches against bottom teams that it's important to keep focus against.
Group B : France, Italy, Ukraine, Scotland, Lithuania, Georgia, The Faroe Islands
The top seeds here are two of the favourites for the tournament, and Ukraine just defeated another tough group in the WC qualifying. Obviously The Faroe Islands need to focus on just getting anything out of this.
Group C :Greece, Turkey, Norway, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Hungary, Moldova, Malta
Good draw for Norway, and a group the fourth and fifth seeds Bosnia-Hercegovina and Hungary can impress in. Still, three top seeds should not be underestimated. Turkey were very impressive in WC 2002, and seems to be in impressive form at the moment, Greece as we all know won EC 2004, and Norway has caused many upsets in the last 15 years, and seems to be on the right path under Ă…ge Hareide.
Group D : Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia, Republic of Ireland, Wales, Cyprus, San Marino
Germany and Czech Republic will be equally big favourites in front of this qualifying group, while Slovakia will have to struggle to keep up their much improved status in football, especially against their former countrymen from the west. With another fantastic qualifying, Slovakia will once and for all be a truly respected football nation. The Republic of Ireland comes from a challenger position, and at their best they can also give a serious challenge to the teams above them.
Group E : England, Croatia, Russia, Israel, Estonia, FYR Macedonia, Andorra
While England will be slight favourites here, both Croatia and Russia will give them some serious competition, while Israel is the outsider of this group. Like Slovakia, Israel would want to keep their much improved reputation. Perhaps this is the group they had dreamt about, definetly one of the better draws they could have gotten.
Group F : Sweden, Spain, Denmark, Latvia, Iceland, Northern Ireland, Liechtenstein
Fun draw for Iceland, but it leaves them with no chance of qualifying. The Sweden vs Denmark matches will be absolutely glorious. Two highly motivated Scandinavian teams in a passionate fight for first place, might put Spain in the middle of a very difficult situation. I think they might struggle to beat either of the Scandinavian teams. Unfortunately for Latvia, I think this group is a bit too strong for them.
Group G : Netherlands, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Albania, Belarus, Luxembourg
I think the Netherlands will take home this group, but if that comes true, there will be a real fight for second place. Neighbours Romania and Bulgaria are always close to the top of their groups, while Slovenia at their best is a really tough nut to crack. Albania has improved over the last decade, and Belarus is by far the toughest team from seeding group six.
