Let's go for the 17th!! The show must go on!!

Athletic come in one of their worst moments of the last years. The Basques are fighting to avoid relegation and, even though they play better since Clemente took the job, the results aren't totally good. This season they're extremely poor in defense, Aranzubia seems a shadow of himself, Yeste and Iraola aren't showing their best football, Urzaiz misses more chances than ever and, in that state of desperation, Aduritz, who was rejected some years ago, came back to Bilbao as a kind of saviour.

Barcelona reach this game after a historical winning run of 16 games won in a row, which is the best mark ever in Spain, beating Di Stéfano's Madrid record. This is the last game of Eto'o before losing our main striker for almost a month. We also have the known missing of Xavi. Although there are some players with physical problems, in theory, everyone should be ready against Athletic.

In any case, independently of our results and their form, Barcelona must respect Athletic, a club with pride, the only one that never went to Segunda with the 2 bigs. They can be in low moments, but the talent is there and Clemente, aside all his bad reputation, is a coach that usually gives results. The key is to be motivated once more and things should work.

VISCA EL BARÇA!

Sunday, at 7 PM (local time). PPV (In Spain)

For extending the record of wins but also to set the record of points in a first half of a season:cool:

Athletic really look bad no matter what they try, I am sure they will come out fighting, they have been playing hard every game, but its hard to see them withstanding the attack of Barcelona.

Is Marquez gonna be back for this game or is he missing this one?
I think it's 50-50 at the moment. We should be able to find out in the next few days.

Getting hammered by Mandril this evening will not help their morale at all and we will not get a better time to play Athletic than right now. Their back line looks very frail, so we could see some potential howlers

It will be the usual situation - as long as we score first, then we shouldn't have too many problems.

barca will kill athletic, they are terrible....if real madrid can win them 4-0 barca can win them 8-0.....just play ronaldinho and it wil be fine

Yes this is his last match before the ANC.

is Eto'o available for this match?
Yes, he's supposed to be leaving right after this game. I believe he will want to score as much as possible before he leaves and I'm sure we'll see him on target, which bodes well for the final result.

I believe we have a very good chance to continue with our winning streak at least until the game at Mestalla, but on the other hand the team might now go through a lot of physical/stamina trainings to build their best form for the February/March games against Chelsea so they might seem exploited in the next several games.

Remember what happend last year at the time. We were trashed by Villarreal not only because the Madrigal team was so good, but also because we were preparing for the Champions' League 1/8 finals and our form dropped slightly in January (well, except the trashing of Sevilla away ;) )

Real Madrid were lucky to score in that match.. Athletic are not motivated for the cup.. they are saving all their efforts for the battle against relegation which starts against us. They wont be that easy in the league.

a win is a must I feel, yet it wouldn't come easy enough.

Athlitec will fight for the 3 points, and they want too much points in the main time, to fight against religation.

with Eto'o playing his last game, I want him to score a hattrick, and I wish to see some of Maxi this game befor Larsson and Giuly.

for god sake, Giuly out of the squad for once

still Athlitec losing last night game against madrid 4-0 isn't a real test, it was in Copa and they missed a lot of thier main players, like Yeste, Urzaiz, Exhibaria and Guariro

so they'll come to fight for the 3 point.

I see it as a 4-2 win for Barcelona

Visca el Barca :star: :strong:

This won't be too hard I think. This is a great chance to leave Osasuna behind us even more. They are playing against Valencia in Mestalla and Real Madrid are playing against Sevilla at home. Real will have some problems breaking Sevilla's defence I think and Osasuna will find it very difficult to take points in Mestalla.

Visca el Barça!

I think Eto'o will score a FEW goals, but its also a good possibility that he will CHOKE...
Yes. If he wants it too much it can become a big dilemma, both for him and for the team. I rembember the last games last season, he shot everytime he had the ball and missed the penalty against Villarreal.

He shouldn't think too much about the ACoN. Just play as he has done this season and he'll be score. No need for stress, he's lots of goal ahead of the next non-Barça-player.

Our last 10 games against Athletic.

Barcelona 2-0 Athletic Bilbao 04/05
Athletic Bilbao 1-1 Barcelona 04/05
Barcelona 1-1 Athletic Bilbao 03/04
Athletic Bilbao 0-1 Barcelona 03/04
Barcelona 2-2 Athletic Bilbao 02/03
Athletic Bilbao 0-2 Barcelona 02/03
Athletic Bilbao 0-2 Barcelona 01/02
Barcelona 1-2 Athletic Bilbao 01/02
Barcelona 7-0 Athletic Bilbao 00/01
Athletic Bilbao 3-1 Barcelona 00/01

Total:
Barça: 5 wins
Athletic: 3 wins
And 2 ties

We'd better clobber this mob. :frustrat:

Seriously, with Eto'o champing at the bit to score before he leaves for typically badly timed international football :yuck: :yuck: , I have to expect some kind of win. These kind of games need to be won to win leagues.
