i remember before robinho came there was talk of him being loaned out before coming to madrid........what ever happened to that?
There was never any truth to this.

Real Madrid never had any intention of loaning him out whatsoever.

Actually they were prepared to sign in January 2005 and loan him out to a club in Europe, PSV was the likely option. However, the deal couldn't go through because of his mother being kidnapped.

Speaking of Robinho - "the new Pelé" - I can't say I've seen anything that supports this nickname. In general, are Real Madrid supporters happy with his performances? The media where I live convince people that he's a great player.

I never, ever believed that.

Let us keep in mind that Santos was unwilling to sell and it was Real who quite adamently wanted his signature for this season. I doubt they would've pushed that hard if they had no intention of the player playing for them this season.

According to www.goal.com he has already agreed terms with Real Madrid:

Cassano To Real Almost Done – Report
12/27/2005 12:18:00 PM
According to the Spanish sports newspaper, Marca, the Italian forward will be joining the Merengues in the coming days.
An agreement has been reached between Antonio Cassano and Real Madrid, with the go-ahead being given by the new Technical Director of the club, Benito Floro.

The final step for the operation to be completed is for Roma to accept the offer made by Real Madrid, who are expecting to have the player already by the 6th of January, in time for the Copa del Rey.

Cassano will substitute Raul in Real’s forward line, as the Spanish captain will be out for almost the entire season

Not that Madrid are short of attackers but Cassano is bound for great things. He could both play as OM, and Second Striker. A good replacement for Zidane when he retires or starting forward with Ronaldo or Raul. Cheers for a great signing.

Pathetic, just pathetic.
Perez will sign a new goal keeper before he signs the player this team needs...
Butra and benito are bunch of wankers who do nothing at this team.

Fine, bring casano and bring another forward, yes, we need them all, they will all look for a new job this summer...

May be wrong but do think scoring is a problem that has to be addressed.i understand that lower possession rates dont help and that a good defensive midfielder is what we need. cant help wondering why graveson is not getting his minutes when according to me he did a decent job of keeping it simple last season. That apart must admit none of our strikers looks really threatening this season and if i remember right our winning seasons were won by outscoring the opposition rather than stifling them out ;)

Ronaldo.

Raul(injured).

Robinho(crap).

Baptista(crap).

Soldado(doesn't play).
I don't agree, Baptista just came back from injury, he's just out of his best form at the moment.. give him some time..

Robinho definitley has the gift.. and will only get better once his body is bulk up..

even if they are crap I still don't see a reason for Perez to buy another striker while they don't have another player who can control possessions except ZZ..

Real Madrid to make Cassano bid to Roma today
tribalfootball.com - December 29, 2005

Real Madrid will table a £2.7 million bid to Roma this afternoon for striker Antonio Cassano.
Real president Florentino Perez will contact Roma executive director Rosella Sensi this afternoon after he attends the presentation of new signing Cicinho.

Along with Perez, new sports chief Benito Floro and Real's Italian agent Enzo Bronzetti will be part of the phone hook-up to discuss terms with Roma for Cassano.

Your offer is €5m and the deal will be concluded if Cassano renounces his image rights worth €1,6m (thing between him and Roma).
If he wants to play for Madrid, he has to give up 50% of his image rights. Since Perez got to Madrid, he has never allowed a player to have more then 50% of the image rights.

Roma, so far are standing strong, like Santos did as well, and they apparently don't care that Cassano has already agreed with Madrid on a salary. Still, €5 to €6 M is nothing and this agreement should be done during the winter transfer.

yeah but after tomorrow Cassano can have an option of moving for free in the summer, and Roma are in a bad financial situation soo they have to accept the 5 million or they know that after 48 hours Cassano will belong to someone else
