This is something I have noticed. Sheva in the last CL finals has choked and played awful. Now against Inter he choked. He just seems to change from a world class player to an average low skilled player. His morale goes down or something. Any thoughts?

well scoring the decisive penalty to win your team the European Cup after 9 years is pressure and if i do not recall Sheva scored and milan won.

Sometimes IMO people go overboard when a player plays bad and deem him a choker :frownani:

What a load of crap, your just remembering the Final last year and tonights game.

Look at the times he has scored in Champions League games and derby games, not to mention goals he scores for Ukraine.

He isnt branded one of the best for no reason.

I believe he is jus taking the piss (Liternit style;)) and isnt really serious about this. Or I hope he is atleast.

what a JOKE

you can do better than that, IB. :D

Milan just had a horrible game, their ENTIRE team did barr Kaka. Yes, Shevchenko is to blame for the defeat...

When your midfield isn't functioing properly, don't expect the strikers to shine. Did he waste any chances ? No. Actually he was one of Milan's better players. Doesn't say much, but surely you can't make him the scapegoat. I'd blame Milan lab, who apparently lost the plot.

He has 14 goals in the Milan derby, a far from shabby record may I add.

He led his country to the World Cup, for the first time ever and they did it in sheer style. First European national team to make it to germany AND they topped a group having the likes of Turkey, Greece and Denmark.

If only all players were "chokers" like Shevchenko, if only... Talent, heart and a great person.

2001 scored an awesome cracker vs juve.

2001, scored x inter, milan won 4-2.

2001, sheva scored a doulbe in the thrashing 6-0 win over inter.

2002 Cl Semi, Sheva scored the decisive goal x inter.

2003 Final, scored a goal (ruled offside, was correct though) and scored the decisive penalty.

2003, scored in the derby (3-1).

2005, CL, scored vs inter 2 goals i recall.

Yeah, he's a choker

Sheva has scored a penalty in the final when for the whole 90 minutes plus xtratime he has done nothing. How is that not chocking? That does not play in his favor at all arfy.

Also, he missed a penalty in the last CL.

And why is that? I did not say he is crap. Read my first post. I say that he is a world class player but in big games he just sucks. I was curious to see if you guys noticed the same or not. It is a debate man, can you debate? If so do it instead of assuming. Thank you.

Nerazzurri4life, its scary man! You are agreeing with me! :D

I think you should sense the sarcasm in Nerazzurri4life post.

Its a load of crap because you have picked 2 games that Sheva has played bad in, tonights and the fact he missed a penalty in last seasons Champions League Final.

He has banged in 6 goals for Milan this year in the ECL, 4 of which came in one game away to Fenerbache.

Someone already mentioned a few rather big games on which he has performed in and if you know the player as well as you claim you do then you should know how much he scores.

Look at his record, it speaks for itself.

Sheva had no service tonight, not his fault. Furthermore he's recently back from injury. An in-form, 100% fit Sheva is among the best strikers in the world

maradona, I did and trust me, me and Nera go way back.

Some of you are missing my point and seem to want to fight me. I am simply debating why he does not PERFORM as well. I never once mentioned that he is not good. I do not see why some of you are writing and answering me with points I never said.

Stay on topic! :D Thank you. :)

We are on topic, you claimed that Sheva crumbles in big games. Its that simple, we all think he doesnt.

It's not a fight, its just a friendly footballing debate.

EV, check my post, he scored plenty of decisive goals vs Inter AND Juve (awesome goals also).

he didnt get the ballon d'or for scoring x mediocre teams u know.

he scored also x PSV and Barca last year!

remember ajax in 2003? was decisive as hell, same for ukraine.

I would like to know the same thing as Michael :)

He has lately(and some seasons ago too) suffered from being played directly after his injuries, has huge pressure on him, and is expected to perform as great as allways after being made to jump right back into the games.

If he can walk, he must play, because he is Shevchenko and you expect much from him and dont let him rest and gradually get back. And that in turn is very damaging to his confidence. Which in turn means he shots less and challenges players less, looking for the the safer options that is mostly back or side passes, instead of taking the iniative.

Not that its a big deal, he still scoring, but its just that its not the typical Sheva we know, which we have incredibly high standards for.

We should try to understand him more before we say such ludicrous things like this and heavily jump to conclusions. And think about what he goes through if one questions his uncharachiristic perfomances. In the seasons that he is inflicted with a serious and long injuries, he struggles to come back (the things I mentionned being good reasons for why) to old form, and generally has it hard to find the scoring touch (except the big games that is, he is still a killer player in those). We need to stop for a second and consider that he is human, no matter how hard that may be ;)

Despite the few examples that has been mentionned, clearly showing what kind of big game player he is (one of the best, if not the best) you should seriously consider that he has scored 14 derby goals!(not considering that he usually score against us too) And the commentator in tonights game said thats the most derby goals in Milan's history. More then the legend Gunnar Nordahl, who is the best goal scorer in Serie A's history ;)

No matter how I disagree with those that make a big deal of calling Henry a choker. If you had picked him in this, it would have been a little plausible atleast(that is if you dont exaggerate like most do), but you saying this about Sheva, who is the complete opposite, is very weird. He is a player that the other players should look up to when it comes to his decisiveness.
