at times, he looks incredible...at times, he makes terrible mistakes like in the roma game...i think he is a pretty damn good goalie...but occassionally, his positioning is very bad...

is he good enough as our starting GK???

Julio Cesar is a great shot stopper, has amazing reflexs and he is always clam, cool and collected. Julio is also capable of pulling of some amazing wonder saves. He could work on his positioning a little bit but over all I rate him highly.

He's a great keeper and will only improve as he gains experience.

i like him...but he looked terrible when totti scored...

Things like that happen. It was more of a great strike then a goalkeeping error. I've seen better keepers let in softer goals and one goal doesn't alter the fact that Julio has been very soild for us this season.

Yeah, cause your defense looked shit SCARED when Totti was coming down...cant really blame him for trying to come out and get in front of the ball.
LOL! I love how you susbtitute the phrase "completely disorganised" with "shit scared". The difference isn't very subtle, is it?

not good enough...why not fontana? the guy who saved a penalty on his debut...
Hey soccasta :rollani: you really do not follow Serie A do you?
You do not recall Fontana having a fight with Mancini? Do you know that Fontana now is at Chievo? Well... he is.

Julio Cesar had this new fad protecting him. What do I mean by this is that, Dida (at the rivals Milan) is Brasilian and many say he is one of the best, so his nationality sort of made him better than he actually is.

I can't believe this ... but the defense gave Totti way too much room. Cesar positioned himself correctly, the goal was outstanding, no goalie in the world would have stopped that

he has been amazing for us and a pleasant surprise

Carson, you got it wrong there. It was not Julio Cesar's mistake, but a great chip from Totti + our midfielders/defenders giving him all the space to Totti. :)

As for your topic's straight answer - J.Cesar has done very well uptil now and he has proved his worth !! And I have watched Inter's all Serie games + Champions League games as well (bar 2 Porto games).

I don't think Cesar is completely to blame at all. He saw that the defence was in a mess so he came out.

Still, Totti was a distance away so he should have stayed on his line. I mean, his moving forward from his line didn't exactly narrow the angle for Totti that much. And the whole point to move forward is to block the angle AND prevent the chip if it happens. He didn't do either. But as I said, I can't blame him that much for that since the defence let him down in the first place.

He was loaned out to Cagliari...

I see you guys blaming our defence for Totti's wonder goal, while our MIDFIELD should shoulder the blame. If you take a look at the goal again, you'd notice that Totti evaded tackles from both Ze Maria and Cambiasso before he chipped JC. Had any of the aformentioned two midfielders intercepted the ball, nothing would've happened.

On subject, Cesar has been excellent so far. :star: Alongside Cruz and Recoba he's our best player this season.

I mentioned the defenders because they were the last line of defence (obviously) and should have done as bit more rather than merely retreat in anticipation of a pass. The midfielders should have done the job first though - you're absolutely right. Yet another argument for the CZ-Cambiasso partnership.

Didn't see that one coming ! :eekani: :D

To Mancini's defence, Cambiasso - Veron worked very well in Udine and it would've been insane to distrupt it only a few days later.

Not to mention that having both CZ and Cuchu from the start means that Veron and Pizarro would sit on the bench, which is hardly unlikely you know. Roberto Mancini is such a big fan of those two (JV & DP) that he even tried to use them at the same time (Palermo & Porto, twice), so leaving out BOTH! isn't even an option. ;)

I have been surprised with Cesar's ability and form. I have not seen Totti's goal because I can not bring myself to watch the whole match (despite having it on tape). The manner in which we we conceded the first goal made me sick but that was more Cordoba's fault than anything else.

Getting back to the topic though, I watched the match against Sampdoria and Cesar pulled off some amazing saves. He is very cool and casual and I have been impressed with him thus far. I do believe he is a good enough to start and also respect Mancini for having faith in a younger player as opposed to respecting the status quo, taking the easy option and selecting the experience of Toldo.

Yeah those saves against Samp were class :star: , top notch stuff. Julio kept us in the game.

Also his performance in Palermo was out of this world. It's a shame that we lost this match, but if not for Cesar we would've lost by a bigger margin.

I also watched him feature for Brasil against Bolivia and he impressed, and denied the Bolivians a win. This fellow has a bright future ahead of him.

Hopefully Suzana ;) won't distract him from football... :D
