Ok this is what Les Murray (a respected Commentator here in OZ) said bout figo b4 the Fifa world player of the year pools

Luis Figo. Sorry, but Figo for me is the singular most overrated of players and I’ve been watching him since he was 19.

His signature, at a world record fee, may have got someone the Real Madrid presidency but that is no definition of what is a great player.

Figo is a fine right flanker, an excellent finisher and an average dribbler. But he has never given me a moment of surprise, all too rarely a moment of inimitable invention and he fails to make the list.

Give me a BREAK !!!

Why do you think Les Murray works for SBS, cause he knows stuff all . What about the way the way he pronounces Jorge Costa. Yourgay Costa . J.C would knock his elton John glasses off his haid if he heard that. I bet he even rates Graham Arnold in his hey day higher than Figo , even at the age of 19

So Les admits that Figo is a 'fine' right flank, and a finisher. But average dribbler? Was this guy drunk when he said this? Figo is one of the finest dribblers in Europe! Figo is in the top 10 in Europe when it comes to dribbling if not the top 3.

Here's a challenge going out to tigertuff: name 10 players in Europe who are better dribblers than Luis Figo. C'mon, name 'em! If you can't, then you have proof as to why Figo is one of the best in Europe.

Ure the same guy who called me a bonehead no? Well i could say the same abt you sunshine. I already stated as clear as day that I thought he was one of the best in the world let alone europe, i just didnt think he was the best, so i didnt need proof on that front mate. Now heres your challenge: read posts clearly next time, come on!

as for dribblers well its a no contest between him and zidane, otherwise id say hes as good as anyone else just abt. Kewell and Giggs whilst not in figos all round class of course, can dribble as well as him, Aimar is a brilliant dribbler, Out of europe Riquelme is in fact better than him, and so too is Ortega. gallardo in europe can prob dribble as well as him too for that matter. Recoba? Ronaldo when playing, baggio? When on form litmanen is a great dribbler, man there are lots and lots of classy dribblers in europe and i bet if i sat down and thougt abt it i could come up with another 10 names. Most of those guys I mentioned IMO are more or less at Figos class in dribbling. Only Zidane, Riquelme, Ronaldo (when playing) and maybe Aimar and ortega, Gallardo are better than him at dribbling

dribblers

well ...the only players i see time after time take a defender(s) and leave him (them) flat on the ground at their feet is figo, zidane and ronaldo.

figo - does that time after time through out the hole 90 minutes. (i remenber clearly the real-lazio game for the champions league, he took nesta (arguably the best central defender in the world) several times and left him on the ground looking back, as for ***** , the player taking him on the left, at the end of the match he had his shorts the same color as lizzarazu's, (green).

as for zidane i have seen him do that once or twice in the whole match, what he does best is roll the ball under is feet and pass it, he hardly takes someone one on one.
he is lucky to play for france which have a great all around team that at the same time cover up for him by taking his passes intelligently and making the best of it.
and to prove how important that is i can just say that on the match between real madrid - bayern figo had two brilliant passes one to raul and one to helgera and both ****ed up in front of goal...if that went in, figo would have been the hero (as both pass/cross were brilliant).

as for ronaldo he was great but does not play and i don't think he will ever be the same.

for me these are the dribblers in the world that i respect.
to back this up i quote someone that knows best, better then any idiot working on television, lizzarizu (french international playing for bayern) "figo in is place is the best in the world"

What separates Figo from Zidane first and foremost is Figos strength. He can hold off players with his arm(s) better than any player I know.
