One more very good game by Skoda! they realy impress my from what i see on TV so far.... 4-1 and they also did miss a penalty in the 83 min......

I have a feeling that Skoda will give Olympiakos and Pana a run for ther money this year and I have a feeling they will get a CL ticket as runer up at least....

Ther defence look Ultra organize leed by the young Sikov.....

Will be interesting to follow them now

It's very nice to see!!

Teams like Xanthi and now hopefully Larisa and all the teams who can potentially stand up to Athens/Thessaloniki I wish all the best. It will make the league much more competitive. Xanthi seem to be a great team, now if they can keep it together they have a great shot at maybe even CL football!! Can you imagine!!

I heard season ticket sales were fairly good this year, and if they keep winning should fill the stadium each week. It's capacity is around 7,300. They should really put up that stand on the open end increase it by a couple thousand now that they are winning. 10,000 is a good capacity for Xanthi, it's not a very big city.

First Xanthi, then hopefully Larisa, and why not teams from Patra, Volos, Ioannina, Serres etc.... Out with the small Athenian teams!

Charly Jones? :D wow he still around. Lost track of him for a long time after he left Feyenoords youth and Stefan Jansen, well pretty much a journeyman striker at lower placed Dutch clubs, I guess you guys don't really rate them either or have they proved the opposite like Wooter at PAO?

Jansen was released after the pre-season. Jones last year played for a 3rd division club and did really well so Xanthi picked him up but I don't think he ever plays.

And who says that Wooter has proved the opposite? ;)

I thought I heard that, but I checked back and saw that PAO_Arsenal told me it was in one game that he done well.

My memory thought it was for more games  so he's not been doing so well I take. Ah well no surprise really although I didn't think he was absolutely terrible when I saw him in the game against Wisla Krakow when PAO won 4-1 or so in Athens. Maybe for a top club Wooter'd make a decent back-up like Anastasiou for Ajax but starter no way.

Wooter has pace and some skill on the ball but his passing is atrocious, and for a scoring midfielder his shot is bad too...

I think hes better than Maric was, but as far as wingers go Nilsson and Seric need to be the starters.

oh if we're going to be blunt then yes I agree. I was just trying to be diplomatic :D

But Maric was a defencive midfielder so Wooter is not his replacement. He's replacing Skacel and Konstantinidis... and personally, I don't think he's a better player than either of them, even though Skacel really, really sucked (but he was working his ass off every game).

Maric was a central attacking midfielder who could play the right wing, thats his natural position. Wooter is the same, his natural position is as a right winger or in the center. The reason he gets used as a left winger is because until recently we didnt have a serviceable left winger. Now with Seric moving up Wooter can go back to the right.

Xanthi face biggest test yet
http://www.uefa.com/footballeurope/news/Kind=2/newsId=363914.html

They play Olympiakos next and i think it comes in a bad time cause Olympiakos got hammered by Lyon so they will be looking to bounce back especially since they play at home, i cant see Xanthi winning.

The winner will be guaranteed pole position in the Alpha Ethniki on Sunday night, and the form book will be a comfort for the home side. Xanthi have not won at Olympiacos in 16 attempts, although they were the first team to escape from the refurbished Georgios Karaiskakis stadium with a point last season.
16 attempts and no win so maybe this is the year it finally happens.
